I've never seen so many geese flying north as this year. It's been a cacophony for the past few days. But I guess fleeing the United States for Canada makes sense now.

Navarro's family should move him to a safe place. Perhaps they could give him a fake television studio to rant senselessly.

Trumpism is the rearguard operation of domination based on gender and race rather than qualification.

As I've said many times, I question the ethics of anyone who considers a felon and unhinged pathological liar qualified to be president.

How about that Trump stock market?

I assume Musk's position is that all of those pikers relying on social security should have had a father with an emerald mine.

I've always found the vast majority of civil servants to be honorable and principled so I can understand why Trump would see them as threat.

The flags in Pennsylvania are at half staff. I assume it is to honor the passing of America's global leadership. By this time next year I expect the Russian flag to be flying with the American one. Elections matter.

I'm having bumper stickers made.

I'm glad I don't have to be a participant in the politicization and degradation of the US military.

Since it's too cold to ride or flyfish, I'm addressing my reading backlog.

I'm continuing to develop my ideas on next gen insurgency.

I'm remembering why I despise United Airlines. I had a flight from Toronto to Harrisburg this week connected at Dulles. The flight out of Toronto left two hours late so I missed the connection. The only option the agent offered was to take a flight to Harrisburg the next day

I don't think my mood has ever been darker. I fear the demise of America's constitutional democracy, a devolution into personalistic proto-fascism, and an abandonment of holding leaders to any ethical standards.

Nicely phrased.

I am deeply pessimistic about the future of American democracy because of the malignant information ecosystem that I cannot see a way to cure.

The past month has been one of the most difficult in my life. As I said many times, I question the ethics and judgement of anyone who considers a felon, sex offender, unhinged pathological liar and, frankly, unintelligent man suited to be president.

Others have noted it but I will too: The big reason Bluesky is so hot right now is that the people who add value to social media - the frequent posters in specific fields - are here now, talking to each other and creating the "spectator value" that draws users and attention.

Personal stuff: Since I'm no longer teaching full time I've spent the last three months setting up my dream aquarium. I've been in the hobby for 45 years and have three other tanks, but this is my first foray into discus--the "king of the aquarium."

I'm finally reading "August 1914" and think about counterfactuals. Would it have been better for the world if the Schlieffen Plan had worked? Probably no Nazis or Soviet communism.

I'm organizing the lecture for Landpower in the Asia Pacific in my Singapore course around what I call the "six managements": psychological effects; strategic narrative; deterrence/coercion; partnerships/coalitions; mobilization/sustainment; and adaption/learning/innovation.

Historically fascist parties support crime that they feel advances their agenda. "Law and order" is simply a useful slogan. Fascism is a revolutionary ideology focused on personalistic rule, faux populism, and hypernationalism, It degrades or destroys constraints on personalistic rule.

Does anyone know of an online security studies syllabus database? If there's not one I may create one.

Like the drug problem, addressing the demand side of illegal immigration would be more efficient and effective than supply side solutions.

I'm a huge free market guy but there's nothing that would jump start economic expansion like the nationalization of the child care industry. For a while my daughter with two preschoolers was spending 50% of her income on child care.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and its enemies signals a historic shift in modern war. In a strategic environment characterized by global connectivity and technology driven transparency, what can be called the narrative domain of conflict is central.
