Imagine playing Doom without 'always run' active, you can't can you.

So, just the 2,185 demos for Steam's Next Fest then, no biggie

Hey have you guys seen the latest video game

I rested, but it wasn't very assured.

Saturday posting is the best. It's Avowed and hey everyone - it's really nice. affectionatediscourse.substack.com/p/avowed-the...

I really should back this, on the off-chance that it gets me one step closer to uncovering the game equivalent of the music video for Massive Attack's Protection.

I guess you put Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation when you've got FH6 getting announced in the summer, and releasing to Xbox/GP at end Q3 or something.

Every day, I see trailers for a dozen awesome-looking games that are on the way, and even in my wildest dreams I'll only ever have the time to check out one of them.

A surprising - but far from unwelcome! - whiff of The Simpsons Hit & Run to be found in Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip www.youtube.com/watch?v=THZd...

A big egg

How the fuck did this happen?!?!?! This week's post is about a podcast I made? affectionatediscourse.substack.com/p/affectiona... (Podcast is here:) shows.acast.com/affectionate...

Happy 34th #Lemmings day everyone! Still the game I'm most proud of. Great game, great team, great times.

What my bills see when I'm checking if it's a Valentine's card

The Friday 3am walk into work is the one day of the week where I'll be regularly spammed by dark/unmarked taxis - "hey man, you need a ride??" - a good number of whom sound like actual Crazy Taxi characters*. (* probably not be a good thing, in this context)

Good luck to all that recognise mandatory-intimacy day. Weird that you have to do it at precisely the same time (8:30pm), but rules is rules I guess.

Home Safety Hotline is so good because of how easily it performs that fundamental horror trick of getting you to believe something completely ridiculous, even just for a moment.

Still plenty of bin bags in that there cyber future.

I love it, but it's still shit. A short one today on Sniper Elite: Resistance: affectionatediscourse.substack.com/p/snippy-eli...

Home Safety Hotline is a lovely little faux-retro UI romp, a kind of WarioWare of horror microstories.

Difficulty settings in early 90s FPS games were all named like - Big boo-hoo whiny loser bumhead waaah (very easy) - Grow a pair, deadbeat! (easy) - Lock & load, babey (normal) - Kick your brain in the nuts (hard) - Relationships terrify me (very hard)

If the Oscars wants to reassert its legitimacy, it should give all the awards to Natasha Demetriou for her role in Stath Lets Flats. And if there are any awards left over, they should still go to Natasha Demetriou, but for What We Do In The Shadows.

Reading between the lines, 2025 seems like one last hurrah for Meta's metaverse/Quest ambitions. I'm not expecting Meta to completely scrap them if 2025 doesn't pan out great, but they'll likely get greatly deprioritised in favour of glasses (which are easier to tie in with Meta's AI investments).

Video games allow you to experience fantastic new worlds beyond the imagination.

It's Friday, so here's a post on a swamp. And boy, what a fucking swamp it is: affectionatediscourse.substack.com/p/stalker-2s...

Telescopes are just like toilets - if you put one in your game, I better be able to flippin' use it.

Nearly 30 hours into Ship Graveyard Simulator 2, I definitely did not have this on my bingo card for 2025, because my bingo card is mostly just some numbers plus some rather saucy cuneiform and lenticular profanity.

My on-console PS5 game collection list is pretty glitchy, and often contains games I've never touched. Apparently, I didn't just play Octopath Traveler 2 - news to me - but played it for 87 hours!

I've watched this video maybe 20 times in the last day

chilling out on the socials

Couldn't say how it would play out exactly, but GTA 6 may end up being quite the lightning rod, on the politics front.

It's the space year 2025, and the jump-crouch trick *still* works a treat in so many first-person games, in terms of getting your character to mischievous places.

As a partner of sorts to last week's post, old man rants about compilations: affectionatediscourse.substack.com/p/the-8-bit-...

There's a lot of Lynch I still need to see, but Lost Highway was the one for me. 1997/8, I was in the final year as an undergrad in Cardiff, and also finally learning how to look after myself (and not scarper back home to my parents every weekend).
