This is about running. This is not about running.

I spent some time reading Elon’s tweets this morning (one of my least favorite activities) and it’s hard to overstate how much he and his allies have constructed an alternate reality for their audience to believe in. In their world, Elon is a superhero fighting government fraud, like fanfiction

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me." Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.

We’re either a nation of laws or we’re not. And if you don’t believe we’re a nation of laws then you hate everything this country is supposed to stand for. Period. You can use the excuse that you’re just greedy or just racist or just stupid. But the truth is that you hate what the American ideal is.

One simple way to make Bluesky even better: Think of muted words as a tool to fine-tune your feed.✨ Muting isn’t just for filtering out harmful words (although we appreciate that) — it’s also a way to hide topics you’re not interested in, so you can see more of what you are interested in. 💙

Turn your tv off and grab one of these books📚 #booksky @skylight.social

What stupidity is this? A good book for kids is the one that they enjoy reading!

I’ve worked remotely from my home office since 2013, and hundreds of my coworkers do too. This guy doesn’t have a clue.

Why does he have a (replica, presumably) FIFA World Cup trophy?

Let me know when the halftime show starts. That’s all I want to see.

Team Fluff! 🐶

Did you know the library has more than books? Of course you did. You're smart. You use the library.

This is the coup happening inside the coup and dumbass Trump and his band of idiots don’t realize it.

Listening to the original Star Wars soundtrack, as one should do often. So good. Thank you, John Williams.

Today’s fun with distributed-service development: is it a bug in the service code we’re writing, or is it a bug in the other team’s service that we’re calling (that they’re in the midst of writing), or in the service they’re calling…

Artificial what? More like Actual Stupidity. #ai

Every year on February 1st when I start my little thread, I run across at least a few fully educated white folk in the US, that have never even heard of the "Declaration of Causes for Seceding states." By "fully educated," I mean "straight-A high student, then top university, then grad school."

Read more. That’s the message. Read more. And maybe during Black History Month take some of your finite time to read some American History. This was a really good one. www.goodreads.com/book/show/40...

My only complaint about the Atlanta-Fulton County Library system: when I come across a book’s record like this.

“Turning our beliefs into behavior is a fundamentally different proposition than knowing something is right or having the moral propensity to say so aloud... Behaviors bring new realities into the actual, material world we live in… we need to give explicit attention to habits and skills we seek

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH** * Currently paused by Executive Order ** Grant reviews now all canceled www.kcur.org/news/2025-01...

🤦🏼‍♂️but working with younger folks, I’m not surprised.

On Netflix: Man on the Inside. Funny in places, poignant in others. Parts hit us hard, given our recent past, but I very much recommend it.

DirectTV includes Paramount+, but apparently not all of it. I can watch Star Trek Discovery but not Strange New Worlds. 😟

I’ve shared on other platforms but wanna restate it. Check out your local library. A lot of them offer more than books like movies, video games and more. They also offer digital options that are free with your card and still supports them.
