Why does 25% AfD among young men spark a thousand "what is going on with young men?" posts yet Die Linke 34% among young women generates...nothing at all? Yes, young men voting for the radical right is an important phenomenon. But so is young women going rad left *at even higher rates*.

We’re still in a global pandemic. The threat of Covid has not passed. We’re seeing an increase in bird flu, measles, TB & more. Public health has been dying a slow & painful death for years. We are on our own. The good news? Masks work for more than just Covid! My complete guide to respirators 👇🏼

Update on free speech at UVA reason.com/2025/02/20/t...

Hilarious. After the DOGErs set up the new government-wide all employee email system in late January OPM, where it is housed, sent out an advisory which states explicitly that no employee ever has to respond to any of the emails. See 4.2 and 4.3. www.opm.gov/media/kfpozk...

I said before that I’m very unimpressed by the current proposed elementary rezoning map. And the fact that the process is now undermining the credibility of the city’s historic new zoning code in some people’s minds further heightens my frustration. dailyprogress.com/news/local/e...

these are the kind of moves that'll eventually move the needle towards shifting power away from tech oligarchs

Keeping up the fight!

Yes. And thank you to @sallyforsupervisor.bsky.social and @zysaidso.bsky.social

Good night from Cville. May you have a relaxing and restful evening

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Let’s build an even stronger, healthier, and more affordable Albemarle County together! sallyforsupervisor.com

this is an act of unspeakable violence. it benefits no one, it doesn’t move a number on a balance sheet. it only guarantees that every one of these incarcerated transgender people will be tortured.

I always shock my students a bit when I tell them that quantitative data is just qualitative data that has already been interpreted numerically.

Black person: [simply exists, saying nothing] Republican: Your support of DEI is intolerable!

Let him hear you, VA05

“No kings” is (unlike a lot of left of center messaging) brief, punchy, and a position that the overwhelming majority of Americans already agree with and invokes their patriotism. Trump has given us a gift here. We should use it.

In addition to Congress being the place that makes the laws, pretty key thing, the constitution explicitly says Congress gets to create the postal system. It’s not left implied that that comes under law making generally. The President has no power to unilaterally abolish it and move it to commerce.

UVA's Board of Visitors meets tomorrow to discuss cutting gender-affirming care. You deserve to know your rights. The Virginia Human Rights Act is clear: No one can discriminate against Virginians based on their gender identity in places of public accommodations. That means schools & hospitals.

Our focus is on housing and transportation. But we know what every decent person understands: our community is harmed when people are denied the medical care they need. We encourage you to show up to the Rotunda Friday morning to show support for our trans neighbors and the right to healthcare.

Encephalitis lethargica was the long COVID of the “Spanish Flu” era. There is even a Robin Williams movie about it. I can’t believe we’re repeating history, while new people get along COVID every day. America is a eugenic country to its core.

We can't talk about affordability during Black History Month without acknowledging the history of discrimination and barriers put in place to keep Black Americans from earning and accumulating wealth.

Protest this Friday led by Cville United for Trans Futures: “Please join us for a demonstration at the UVA Rotunda at 8:45am on Friday, February 21.” More details: cvilleunited4transfutures.org?fbclid=IwZXh...

Metaphors gonna metaphor.

Charlottesville roads aren't in great shape right now — even major thoroughfares. Stay where you are if you can. ❄️

At this point, the BOS meeting for today is still happening. We encourage you to be safe, but note that you can provide comment via Zoom. We have more information on the steps to do that in our advocacy guide: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Meritocracy.

Indivisible Charlottesville-organized protest today.

granting the premise of this, how would you know what questions to ask?

The weather has shifted and we now expect the Board of Supervisor meeting to happen on Wednesday. We need you to show up at 1pm or 6pm to support housing. And we have awesome new signs people can hold during the meeting!! Info on the who/what/how here: docs.google.com/document/d/1...
