St Marks, Warriston Rd, Edin (1936) Inter-war council housing by EJ MacRae and his team. A good infill scheme - with kinked crescent overlooking a pocket park and more surviving sash windows than you usually find #sashwindowsmatter

Strava rocking the route descriptions.

Ludworth Tower, Co Durham - from a recent cycle trip. An early C15th tower hanging on - just west of the pit village of Ludworth.

Happy Burns Night

Private Eye, ages ago.

It's raining outside but I'm smiling because I've just received this - first advance copy of my book ☺️ Is it wrong that I keep wanting to stroke it? @c20society.bsky.social

So disappointing that when this series of the innovative and exciting #TheTraitors ends, it gets replaced next Thursday by the tedious drudgery of The Apprentice, back for its 38th series, with Alan Sugar and his boring scripted witticisms and repetitive tasks performed by utterly hateful people.

Fire in the disco, fire in the ….

Factory design that isn't just a box. It's a box of chocolates! Designed by Lewis E Wade for Joseph Terry & Sons of #York 1928. This is where the Chocolate Orange was invented folks 🍫🍊

1/ Council Housing in Hampstead: Wells House, 1950 - "64 'tactfully Georgianizing' municipal flats" (in the words of @vchlondon.bsky.social) designed by CH James for Hampstead Metropolitan Borough Council. Burgh House, built 1704, shown in the last image.

I hope Labour's new plans for housebuilding will enthusiastically support and assist the upgrading and conversion of existing buildings - rather than just developers' newbuild ?

During Covid lockdown, if you had family round on Christmas Day the police could force their way into your home and make them return to their own homes. Does anybody know if this service is still available and, if so, do you have to book it?

A fabulous poem from the late C19th by 'Traquair' about my gt gt grandfather George Clark - a building contractor and carpenter in Morningside, Edinburgh. #morningside
