Executive dysfunction is a harsh mistress. Could I have just one more Dopamine so I can just do The Thing™? I'm literally begging here.

It frustrates me that so many videos on YouTube, etc. are still in only 1080p (at most) and not 2160p (a.k.a. "4K"), even trailers for big budget blockbuster films and prestige television shows. Some of us can, in fact, benefit from the increased resolution, and more importantly, bit rate.

Empathy is not weakness—it is a superpower. Diversity is not weakness—it is strength.

Guess who put the fixed middle shelf in his IKEA BILLY bookcase upside down with the fasteners visible and didn’t notice until after nailing in the backing? Whoops. 🤡

People really need to learn the difference between "this is badly written" and "this is not to my liking."

Just IKEA things.

Wild timing that Pope Francis is seemingly on death's door smack in the middle of film awards season, with Conclave, a political thriller about electing a new pope, is up for Best Picture.

You put a lot of work into your video game's story and I desperately want to experience that amazing writing and acting, so normalize making cut scenes pausable in video games, without skipping or canceling dialogue options. How is this still an issue for a single-playing game in 2025?

Too many people don't understand the difference between patriotism and nationalism and it shows. Patriotism is too often thrown around as a more "friendly" synonym for what is really nationalism.

After spending many hours in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's post-apocalyptic survival horror world, with its moody, dingy, depressing colors, entering Avowed's bright, stylized fantasy world is quite a contrast. Both are graphically impressive in Unreal Engine 5, but couldn't be more opposite stylistically.

Thinking about how some of the most iconic sounds in film and television came from an old 35 mm projector and a crappy motel air conditioner. Ben Burtt is such a legend.

Really not looking forward to suffering through traffic on the 405 and the Sepulveda Pass this morning. But at least I've got the latest @mattdinniman.bsky.social's latest Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook to entertain me. You will not break me.

I know it sounds dumb, but as someone who works from home, battling ADHD fatigue when my comfy bed is only steps away, just out of view, and I want a nap more than anything in the world can be such a struggle.

"We understand that your time is valuable... So we're giving you an unskippable pre-roll advertisement for something you don't want."

Equality is not oppression. Some people are just too used to privilege.

Never would have predicted I'd have a software update for a light bulb, but this is the world now.

Really tired of being really tired of living in "interesting" times. 🤦

"When people tell you who they are, believe them"

Been getting a lot of people asking about LA geography concerned that the images they see means the entire county is on fire. That's understandable. But LA is a big place. So, to give an idea of scale it's time to cart this out again. It's a map of LA with other cities superimposed on it.

On this day 12 years ago, @kcg.bsky.social posted the “This is Fine” comic.

In this day and age, living in a place that - you like, - you can afford, - you can find a job, - you have family/friends, - you feel safe, and - you *are* safe from natural disasters/bad laws/worse is luxury and privilege. Almost no one gets to check all the boxes. So maybe don’t be an asshole.

While we’re banning books… Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar. Be. Like. Finland.

As ever, the loss of something good and useful for Americans is framed as a loss for Democrats — in the mass media, everything becomes just a political football to be kicked back and forth instead of examined for its impact on everyday citizens regardless of political party.

I agree. I no longer call myself a “content creator” because I’m not a machine that manufactures content. I make shows, podcasts, and posts that bring awareness to projects, but I’m not here to fulfill data and metrics.

Here's to a better year. The bar is low.

When I mistyped "god parks" when I meant "dog parks" and search was like "yeah, I knew what you meant, dogs are the best, sorry god."

All I'm saying is ain't no one hunting this man down. And I guarantee you he's not starving. You can be a CEO and still be wealthy and not fuck your customers over for a few extra nickels in the pockets of your investors.

The only Christmas music I listen to is August Burns Red. 🤘 open.spotify.com/playlist/6TV...

When you want to listen to podcasts while working, but your work involves editing other podcasts and audiobooks. 😣

Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to have a not defective, more neurotypical brain that Just Works.™ Sadly I will never know. 😭

Laid down at 6pm after dinner last night and accidentally napped. Then gave in and formally went to bed at 9pm last night... So here I find myself wide awake at 5:30 am for no real reason other than my body decided it's had enough. 🤦

Thank you for your email. As you are likely aware, I am mentally checked out until 2025 and will be unable to provide a response to your inquiry until then. If you have any questions, that’s unfortunate.

Cognitive dissonance is a helluva drug.

Gotta love buying a used car only a few months ago with a "new" battery only to discover is defective and unlikely to be able to make a warranty claim. 🪫 What a year... 🫠

Starting my day with a dead battery unable to start my car isn’t exactly what I was hoping for.

Sometimes things can be incredibly isolating, so I'm very grateful to see some of my @scottsigler.bsky.social community friends at our regular monthly virtual happy hour on the first Saturday of each month.

I've been working my way through the Expeditionary Force series, so variations of "what a dumb-dumb" have made its way in to my vocabulary. Skippy would be proud. (If you know, you know.)

The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance, NOT as a moral standard, but as a social contract. If someone does not abide by the terms of the contract, they are not covered by it. In other words, the intolerant aren't deserving of your tolerance.

If your pay doesn't rise at least as much as the rate of inflation, you are getting a pay cut. Look up the annual inflation rate for your country. Did your pay increase by at least that percentage this year? If it didn't, that is a pay cut, by any meaningful measurement.

It took 14 seconds.

It's okay to not like something. Everything doesn't have to be made for you. But just because you don't like it doesn't mean it objectively sucks. Don't hate on people for liking something you don't. It's not that hard to just let others enjoy things. Sometimes the internet is just the WORST.

Oh good god it’s true.

Really, really tired of living in “interesting” times.

Thinking about that time in the mid-2000s when I showed up to a small local show for a friend's metalcore band, and a group of scene kids waiting outside asked if I was lost. 🤣 I guess I looked like a dork in cargo shorts and a plain T-shirt. I am a nerdy dork, but I am a metalhead. 🤘

The movie IDIOCRACY was supposed to be an ironic parable of the stupidity of your fellow citizens and sheep mentality, not a How-To guide.
