Birds seem restless this morn. Pleased with only my 2nd #Localpatch Glaucous Gull S along the coast path. An ad Med Gull was in the Bathing House field, 44 Pinks S ( one crapped on my head!), 4 Golden Plover W, 4 Curlew S. Skylarks, Song Thrushes and Dunnocks singing. #Lowcarbonbirding #UKBirding

I have made a website to show off the wonderful creativity within our valley, in Northumberland. coquetdalecreatives.art It is an organic and growing project. Like to be on it? Get in touch, if you live or work in Coquetdale.

Created a Hampshire Nature feed for natural history sightings, events and news in Hampshire 🙂 Hopefully this will complement the #HantsBirds feed and help to link up Hampshire birders & naturalists on Bluesky. bsky.app/profile/did:...

3 days of braving the cold, searching every rocky wall… and finally, there it was—the elusive wallcreeper! ❤️ #Wallcreeper #NatureSketching #Birdwatching

Is there a translocation program for individuals who string Black Reds into Wallcreepers? Ideally to a Russian gulag. I am willing to start the Crowd Funder and put a tenner in. ♠️

Doing some practice layout sketches for Rare birds in Northumberland....Trumpeter Finch and Little Crake, both pre digi photo species...Getting my eye in...🤔 #BirdArt

Imagine standing there with notebook and camera...🤓 #Teammoth #Moths

Latest watercolour - a Wallcreeper (Tichodrama muraria 红翅旋壁雀). A regular but scarce winter visitor to Beijing, mostly to the mountainous Fangshan District. #birds #beijing #china

Birdguides are reporting a possible Wallcreeper in Cornwall! That will get hearts racing!! #rarebirdsUk

On this day in 1988 the first site Mediterranean Gull was recorded at Worsbrough Reservoir. I started birding around the same time and adopted this patch. An obsession with this species followed but I never did find my own there. Years pass and I still can't ignore BHG flocks! #Gulls #Birding

Sketchbook of the Lesser Scaup female at Carsington in Derbyshire. #Ukbirding #UKrarebirds #Derbyshirebirding #birds #birdart 🪶 Hoping to get back up for more views and better sketches.

Surf Scoter studies from sketches made in Vancouver a couple of yrs ago for #SuperSeabirdSunday #BirdArt Cheers

We were very fortunate to encounter a trip of eleven Tawny-throated Dotterels right next to the side of the road at Lake Cordea, Patagonia, Argentina yesterday afternoon. What a stunning bird!!

I have longed to see Cresties for most of my life, and last wk my birdy dreams came true! I’m working on a wee drawing on vintage map of Abernethy forest…Barely in sight, tricky to see, this little bird emerging from the details of the map sums up the experience for me. #birdart #crestedtit

Never.....

The Pale brindled Beauty is one of the earliest #moths in the new season. Before I had a trap I searched for them in phoneboxes and shop windows etc. #teammoth #Northumberland

For the #BlueSkyArtShow, the theme #Monochrome is particularly applicable to field sketches - so here is one of my favourite sleeping gulls from a few years ago

Supporting the #BlueSkyArtShow today, the theme is #Monochrome This is 32 years old now from a time before I did much watercolour.... A Little Bunting... #BirdArt

Supporting the #BlueSkyArtShow the theme being #Monochrome so here’s some local sleeping Tufties🖤🤍

Does anyone really think he will go after 4 yrs? Even if he lost an election, he wont go. You'll see....

After disappearing for five days, the North American Bufflehead reappeared on the home patch of Hillwell here in Shetland. Lovely to see the winter sun bring out the 'oil sheen' of iridescence on the head. Still a novelty to watch it from the house! #BirdingScotland #ukbirding #RareBirdsUK #birds

On #Countryfile just now asking a countryperson about trail hunting. MATE HE'S NEVER BEEN TRAIL HUNTING IN HIS LIFE! These inbred capdoffers do like to think we're mugs...

Before the rain set in at 10am had a walk around Seaton Point in a baltic mod SE wind. Not a lot of note, except maybe the first Meadow Pipit back. Bet therell be birds singing by next weekend...

The irony of the richest man in the world almost single-handedly destroying an agency designed to help the world’s poor, so that the U.S. federal budget has more room for another giant tax cut for the richest man in the world and his pals, should not be lost on anyone. [Cartoon by Mike Luckovich]

Moth of the day, Tortricodes alternella an early spring micro. Not common in my garden being more of a woodland species... #Teammoth #Moths #Northumberland

If you see this, quote post with a beach photo from your gallery.

Our 2023 county bird report is out to club members now. It will be available to purchase by non-members soon (details will follow). If you saw the Grey-headed Lapwing at Low Newton on its first day you may even be on our cover! #ukbirding
