We support anyone participating in the economic blackout on Feb. 28! It’s been a lean month for us, and as a micro-business, we’ll be open tomorrow - Amazon won’t miss your $$, and their crochet/knitting help is terrible 😘 Cash is great for us EVERY day - no fees and immediate access to funds!

I feel like we all need a laugh and an excuse for short-form writing prompts this morning.

Current state of things: Chocolate milk for dinner after going to the gym. I *should* be responsible and work on a shop sample. I’ll probably pick some fiber out of my stash and spin for half an hour instead. Then work on the shop sample.

Now open: The Fleece Bar! Whether you want a shot of Shetland or a growler of Gotland, experiment with wool beyond Merino. Merino is of course lovely in its own right, but easy to find - but Coopworth and Finn and Norwegian are much more challenging to track down! All wool sold by the ounce ⚖️

A Knitter’s Cautionary Tale: A Thread This is the Weekday Pullover by Aimee Sher. This is the second time I’m knitting it. Because I love it? Well, yes. But also because I didn’t follow my own damn rule - wash your finished object the way you washed your swatch.

This week's shop event schedule!

I’ve seen two different dates for a general strike next month - is momentum behind the 3/14 or 3/15 date?

Finished my first complete project from last week’s conference skills: a skein of 517 yards / 460 meters from Greenwood Fiberworks, colorway Carnation, on heathered BFL. These are unwashed singles; into the fulling bath they go to finish them and make them more stable.

Let’s hear it from Chris for the next #CustomerCraftinessFriday post! She’s a new knitter and loved the idea of a giant, cozy shawl as her first fancy project.

More #CommunityCraftinessFriday from Rose, who sent these back from Arizona with her daughter! These beanies really show off the beauty of Round Mountain Fibers’ yarn - a great illustration of how amazing colorways sometimes benefit from the simplest canvases.

More #CustomerCraftinessFriday: the dragon-scale hood that Heather finished earlier this week!

Whoops - had some home stuff to deal with, so settle in for an evening’s worth of #CustomerCraftinessFriday in several posts! Details on yarn and pattern will be in a comment on each post. First: slippers by Cynthia!

It’s #CustomerCraftinessFriday on this feed! All day, we’ll share photos of customer work completed through lessons/classes and/or using yarn purchased from the shop. Get ready… we’ll start posting around 9 AM!

Love this shop community so much 💗 Here’s our thought wall for the first six weeks of the year:

THANK GOODNESS.

Aside from the lighting differences, here's why finishing your handspun yarn is important. This is a semi-worsted yarn - it was made from Romney roving, which is a woolen-spun prep, but I did a short forward draw like you would for a worsted-spun yarn. Before photo on carpet, after on counter.

Back to work today. It looks like we’ll have several small shipments to process, and then ERMAGERD the fibery goodness of Greenwood Fiberworks going on the shelves 😱😱😱 Welcome back to normal operations! Doors open at 10 AM.

I binge-listened to the last 25% of Iron Flame by @rebeccayarros.bsky.social last week while also stupidly continuing to let news alerts ping my phone. Which is probably why I had a WILD dream in which venin are created by non-fluoridated water sources.

Whew. Home after 4 days of feeding my brain and heart at Red Alder Fiber Arts Retreat. News of beauty and joy: we’re bringing Greenwood Fiberworks fiber onboard as a new item in the shop! Limited stock available on Tuesday morning when we get back in.

Day 2: continuing to be brave enough to do new things and not be totally successful with them. So much joy and creativity with my classmates today, thanks to @charansachar.bsky.social and his Corespinning + class at Red Alder Fiber Arts Retreat!

Day 1 of Red Alder Fiber Arts Retreat: Extraordinary Singles with Heavenly Brenner ! Great class, both on technique and technical content. I hope I can take more classes from her in the future 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

The shop will be closed from Feb. 13 - 15, 2025 for our annual professional development trip to Red Alder Fiber Arts Retreat in Tacoma, WA. We'll return to business as usual on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 10 AM. Thanks for your support and understanding!

A Hoodola, in three views: 1: Today’s outdoor styling. 2: Maybe even today’s indoor styling. Who knows. It’s COLD. 3: Laid out flat on the floor. Looks ridiculous, but is *ridiculously* warm. Pattern: Hoodola by Laura Nelkin Yarn: Lanas (100% wool) from Berroco
