To be clear, I'm not an "I make all my own clothes" person bc I am that dedicated to environmental sustainability (though it's a nice thought); I make most of my own clothes because it's more accessible for me to expend time and use secondhand scraps than to afford new clothes that fit me right.

I don’t think this is a hot take, but as someone who loves sewing and fashion and design, and who appreciates the theme chosen for this year, I can’t help but have a hard time enjoying the spectacle, excess, and waste of the Met Gala... when average garment workers don't make a living wage.

🧶yarn pattern writing peeps! What are your preferred annotations for a pattern with multiple colors? Writing "(MC) for main color and (CC1) or (CC2) for contrast colors is feeling a bit clunky? I'm trying to transcribe a colorwork crochet pattern for a hat... Any tech editors here have advice?

Circling back to this because we are finally seeing some expansion of what this looks like in universe via the Ghorman storyline in recent Andor season & the intro of the "Ministry of Enlightenment" as the imperial propaganda machine. Plus, actual screens for TV broadcasts & video chat? interesting

I made this skyline tank top yesterday! I love it because it is lightweight and versatile enough to wear out as part of an outfit, but the real vision was to pair it with matching ruffle shorts so I can have a cute beach/lounge set

At this rate MAGA will only be able to afford to rent the libs.

Today was fun! Always love an outing to the card shop with my wife

My wife sent me her new fav Pokemon card

I already used mostly secondhand materials for my clothes and knitwear, but I'm pretty concerned about the accessibility of things like notions, needles, sewing machine feet etc, let alone thread or fabric. Smells like huge supply chain issues for fast fashion as well. How will we clothe the poor?

A moment of silence for having new clothes, before the tariffs. Something like 97% of the clothing in the US is imported, and while the US textile industry does a lot of cotton exports, they're only 8th in the world for distribution/manufacturing of textiles...

ChatGPT consumes so much water and energy each week that it could power entire countries for YEARS and folk act like you told them to kill their selves cause you want them to write their own emails and not to steal art. 😂

The future history of now will include something along the lines of "social media put billions of people worldwide in the same room together for the first time in history and it drove them absolutely insane"

Happy Trans Day of Visibility

Instead of stealing Greenland from Denmark, let’s steal some of their policies. In Denmark: - Health care and college are free.   - The starting wage is $22/hr. - Paid parental leave is 1 year. - Paid vacation is 6 weeks.   - All workers get pensions.

I wish people hated fascism half as much as they hate feminism

I finished a maxi dress today! Pattern is the Skyline Dress by Syd Graham. Pairs well with this color block cardi I 🧶 knit from stash yarn. Cardigan was not a pattern; made it up as I went.

Which fish?

Cloture has met the 60 votes to pass in the senate with the help of at least 9 Democrats: Schumer, Fetterman, Hassan, Cortez Masto, Durbin, Gillibrand, Shaheen, Schatz, and Peters. They sold out our country to Trump and Elon. They're traitors to democracy.

Three years ago, three other reporters and I ID'd and called any school accused of having litter boxes for furries. We found one (1) in the entire country: Columbine's school district. Cat litter was for a "go bucket," in case kids were locked in during a shooting. www.nbcnews.com/tech/misinfo...

My wife is going through our Pokémon cards to clean out things for rotation and keeps sending me little eulogies of the ones we'll miss lol. That said, I'm so ready for lost zone to go away; cramorant can spit in hell.

A few more photos of the denim checker dress I made!

Finished my birthday dress! Pattern is the Juniper dress by @tiana-herring.bsky.social - I really loved sewing this one! It's a great pattern and felt refreshing to sew something that felt like fat people were in mind from the jump lol. This is gonna be in my heavy rotation for sure!

news in america: you will have to drink shit in water. we are going to end education. we will deport you for having the wrong opinion news in any other country:

Adventures in sewing: I cut out all my pattern pieces, and then realized as I was marking notches that I accidentally cut another front piece on the fold instead of cutting a back piece. Normally this would be something I would roll with, but there is a collar on the dress...

How tf do you claim to spiritually interact with the earth, or anything, yet open your arms to destruction of public lands, social services, and vulnerable communities?
