Taken almost a year ago to the day, standing in the centre of the main circle at Callanish, Lewis. Imagine being cold enough in the wind and the clean air to need hiking boots, three layers, and a hat. #StandingStoneSunday

#StandingStoneSunday #DailyMegalith Ollie at Busta Brae standing stones, #Busta #Shetland #Scotland (2018) A nice cooling picture for this hot day. It was very misty, we couldn't see across Busta Voe when we were there.

Visited Sherlock & Pages in lovely Frome and picked up @stonelands.bsky.social's new book. Pleased to see they also had Spooky Book No. 1 in stock. I might not currently be making a penny from it (ongoing publisher woes, yay...), but dammit, I'll never tire of seeing it in beautiful bookshops..!

Last call for my Avebury talk/walk on Tuesday 24th June - a few tickets left! (Via Hungerford Bookshop.) Otherwise some upcoming STONE LANDS events- hope to see you there! @megalithic.bsky.social

I’m very happy to say that my book STONE LANDS is now out in the world! @megalithic.bsky.social are doing a giveaway of signed copies. Thanks to the whole amazing Little, Brown team, the wonderful illustrator Philip Harris and all you who sent me your brilliant stones stories and insights! ❤️

This is my pencil drawing of the remarkably well preserved Dolmen of Ty-ar-Boudiged in Brittany. Its name means 'House of the Fairies' in Breton. #TombTuesday The original artwork is now available for sale on my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/MySearc...

#tombtuesday The cist at Merrivale yawns open as if this prehistoric coffin had recently cracked open and the ancient dead risen!

Stones

Harold’s Stones, Trellech. A distinctive alignment of 3 stones once thought to commemorate Harold II’s victory over the Welsh (but erected much, much earlier), or rumoured to be tossed by mythical Jack o’ Kent from the nearby Skirrid during a trial of strength with the devil. #StandingStoneSunday

Callanish ,sunshine mornings #StandingStoneSunday

This stone is 9.4 metres high (yes 9.4 metres!) + it’s not even the tallest standing stone in Brittany. The Menhir de Champ Dolent is sinking into the ground, they say, and when it’s completely gone, the world will end (I think it might end before then). #standingstonesunday @megalithic.bsky.social

A selection of standing stones at the magnificent Drizzlecombe stone row on Dartmoor, from the tallest menhir standing over 4 metres tall to the smallest that barely pokes through the grass. -- #standingStoneSunday @megalithic.bsky.social #Dartmoor
