Every single Democratic governor and attorney general needs to do this -- if only to make it clear to voters *right now* that the firings and funding freezes that are about to hurt their states badly are the work of Trump-Musk in Washington. Get ahead of this now, or get blamed for it later.

What we’re done is create a massive information infrastructure which privileges conspiracy theories, demagoguery, bigotry, lies, and hysteria - much larger than the traditional news infrastructure. It’s the main information source for many. And then new political movements evolved to exploit it.

Trump frightens me but I don't want to criticize him because that could hurt my net worth. I have never felt more politically homeless.

A MUST WATCH: Sarah Longwell absolutely tears into Kevin McCarthy for his role in enabling Trump: It's funny that you roll your eyes at this, Kevin, because you're the one who went down & resurrected him…You should never be allowed to get away with this

it is possible that I am in fact wildly out of touch with popular opinion on the left but i continue to believe that murder is bad

Call me crazy, but I think Justin Sun, a Chinese national being prosecuted for fraud by the SEC, sending Trump $18 million should be a bigger story The direct enrichment of Trump by a foreign national weeks before he takes office has merited no coverage in the NYT or Washington Post

Pretty interesting. Although I originally clicked on it because I thought it was behind the scenes details about canceling of the old @lebatardshow.bsky.social show

Thoughts on Hunter pardon: - I don’t love it, but I completely understand why he did it - with everything the incoming administration is telling us they’re going to do, we probably need to stop handcuffing ourselves with standards they won’t follow - I wish it wasn’t this way

Wait. It just occurred to me. The push by a ton of MAGA folks in the Missouri v. Biden case (including the district court ruling) was that effectively NO White House official could talk to any social media company without violating the First Amendment. Yet now Elon Musk will be a WH official.

This is the guy who told the United States Supreme Court that the President could dispatch Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political opponent and have immunity when doing so.

i mean at this point everything is obviously going to go to shit eventually and theyre going to use that to try to take more power and im a bit concerned the democratic party as currently constructed isnt equipped to handle that threat

Gonna try another old-Twitter-style thread, since the last one got a lot of engagement. This time about a topic some people have raised, but needs more attention: the likelihood that Trump's tariffs will become an engine of immense corruption 1/

Pete Hegseth 5 days ago: "I'm straight up just saying we should not have women in combat roles."

Now that we're all here, I'm going to share some great investigative reporting from the last few years about people who may be handed great power in the upcoming administration. This includes work from @propublica.org @asssociatedpress.bsky.social and PBS Frontline.

it's so easy for right-wingers to proclaim that Trump has already vanquished a lot of stuff they don't like — woke cancel culture, trans takeover of sports, immigrant gangs, LGBTQ grooming and CRT indoctrination in schools — because all that stuff was fake to begin with
