NEW EPISODE! Apple did something very un-Apple-y by pulling its Advanced Data Protection encryption for iCloud in the UK. We're joined by @matthewdgreen.bsky.social and @joebeone.techpolicy.social to discuss the ramifications: youtu.be/LAn_yOGUkR0 podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a...

Right. Transphobic asshats have got a petition to repeal the GRA to over 10,000 signatures. Fuck that. Let's get this one higher: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

"Well what if we just get rid of Section 230 and see what happens? What's the worst thing that could happen?" Ask a sex worker. The last time Congress changed Section 230, people died. www.thedailybeast.com/want-to-fix-...

"Do you like undefined behavior? Do you enjoy two standard conforming implementations agreeing on all input bytes, and all entropy the system produced, but disagreeing on the output bytes?" keymaterial.net/2025/02/19/h...

Love to be reminded of all the work I've done that's never made it to completion because of shifting priorities (both mine and other people). It does occasionally give me hope that some day the dam will break and I'll get to close out a bunch of stuff in one swell foop...

Got thinking after watching @chetsucks.com's recent TikTok about build servers: I'd love to see a collab between @steampowered.com and @archive.org to help studios archive source + build envs for game releases. I'd likely not live to see their Public Domain Days in ~100 years, but it would be neat!

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

There's a very pretty fracture pattern on my phone's screen protector. It looks like magnetic field lines emanating from a new crater of powdered glass at the edge. I can see the ends of the fractures creeping forwards. Wish I knew how I managed to create it. I didn't even drop my phone once today!

The thing everyone expected the Snooper's Charter to be used for, is indeed the thing it is being used for.

Privacy is normal, and more important than ever. Cryptography is a tool we can use to redistribute power to those who need it. These have been my focus for over a decade now, and they're going to be my focus for the next decade.

Fuck this. I've said it before, but we need to archive, in as many places as possible, the whole scientific literature. (Paywalls be damned.)

I've put together a webpage that renders the ePrint author list I maintain for @eprint.bsky.social. It's a separate website to enable listing by the author name used in papers, rather than the Bluesky display name or handle.

I picked the wrong three months to not update @eprint.bsky.social with cryptography author handles, damn there's a lot of you here now

Would you buy a plushie of me if 10% went to charity? Let me know. Use the heart response. I have been told it means "Like". @dwangoac.tas.bot does not know who can make me into a plushie or how to afford the upfront costs. Yet. He is gauging interest first.

This is such a cool paper! It bypasses Fiat-Shamir by running the non-interactive transcript hash inside the circuit, & using the resulting challenge in such a way that it occurs reliably in multiple places within the core proving system that can cancel out (instead of with negligible probability).

*ahem* FUCK OFF YOU ORANGE ARSE

Public libraries are cool and badass

I was going to joke that there's a structurally integral CSV (comma-separated values) file somewhere in the backend causing this. Turns out they literally tell you the details of the renames in a CSV file.
