My newsletter about early-stage UK B2B and deep tech startups turns three years old this week, so I took a leap to do something equal parts useful and self-indulgent... ...interview MYSELF about where PreSeed Now came from and where it's going. Judging by the response, I think the risk paid off! 😅

Chrome won market share, but it's built on open source Chromium which really won the browser wars. I was a loyal Chrome user for many years, but switched to Edge ages ago as it's simply better. Others prefer Opera. Can't see how the web would be worse off if Google didn't own Chrome.

Banning zero hours contracts Ending fire and rehire Making employers responsible for preventing harassment Stopping bosses firing people for no reason with no notice in their first two years in the job All Labour policies coming to a workplace near you soon

How will parents cope? What a stupid question. They'll cope like 93% of normal people do and send their kids to a normal state school so their kids grow up to be useful members of society instead of being an out of touch minority.

Am I now more likely to stay in a Marriott hotel? Absolutely. Just as I'm more likely to continue shopping at Costco. It's not about virtue signalling. Simply the difference between right and wrong.

Escooters would be better. I've tried them in other cities and would use if available in Leeds. I have zero desire or need for e-bikes.

Our second panel of day two at the Davos Communications Summit. Catherine Hernandez-Blades moderates a panel on Strategic Communication and Crisis Management in the Modern Market. #wcfasummit #PRSummit #davossummit

And it's Pulp, so what's not to like?

Not sure I agree this is 'AI slop'. AI slop is pointless, not very good AI. This isn't bad. It revels in the fact it's AI and not brilliant. My point would be this is no worse than loads of music videos and not bad for a band that's probably trying to cut through on a minimal marketing budget. 1/2

The UK Government Communication Service is at the forefront of adopting AI for comms. It has built GCS Assist, it's own AI tool. Today it released the open source code. This is a huge opportunity for PR and comms. We can help.

And we're off. President of the World Communications Forum Association Maxim Behar introduces the Davos Communications Summit.

Now in Davos and have already caught up with far more people than I can remember to tag! Looking forward to Davos Communications Summit reception this evening and the start of the summit tomorrow.

Last week I spoke to @johnjohns John Johnstone from @politico.eu about the critical role of LinkedIn for public affairs. The TL;DR is, if you aren't using LinkedIn extensively for public affairs, then you are massively missing out on an essential channel for research and engagement.

On XTwitter Barack Obama follows me. On Bluesky I follow Barack Obama. @barackobama.bsky.social

The best cake. Need to compare this to my Mum's and Nigel Slater's recipes.

This would make a fantastic mini-series... for Amazon. 😁 https://www.npr.org/2025/03/20/nx-s1-5334497/carl-erik-rinsch-netflix-fraud-fbi

Seems a good time for me to read Redcoats by Bernard Cornwell which I started this morning.

The Purposeful Relations teams is in Athens. Yesterday I did a keynote then ran an interactive workshop on AI and crisis communications.... for comms leaders at airports! This was not one of our scenarios.

Does it really matter? My experience of black cabs years ago is mostly negative. My experience a couple of weeks ago was no better. Guy asked if I could pay cash. Obviously I wouldn't as don't want to contribute to fraudulent black economy.

I'm amused at the furore around technology secretary Peter Kyle's use of ChatGPT. Surely it would be more shocking if he and his team weren't using AI more extensively?

Three minute video support will be useful.

In contrast Costco stood firm and even doubled down on its DEI. I was already a member and customer, but it certainly means I'm more likely to shop there more.

True story. I've heard Ed tell it.

Fantastic turnout at our Women in Westminster reception last night, hosted by the Speaker. #WiW100

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, even those who said it.

Interesting webinar about AI, public diplomacy and strategic narrative on 25 March. Professors Ben O’Loughlin and Alister Miskimmon will discuss their chapter in host Sean Aday's (George Washington University) new Handbook of Public Diplomacy.

I ❤️ what the Yorkshire Post says.

Cracking speech by @RachelReevesMP who did a brilliant job of dealing with two idiotic hecklers. So much Labour has already done, so much more to do. Rachel is really in her stride reeling off everything we are doing. Brings tears of joy to my eyes.

Potentially interesting one for my trade union and Labour friends.
