That's a wrap! Many thanks to our amazing speakers & @fair-thechoicelab.bsky.social for co-funding the BITSS Annual Meeting. Great discussions on meta-research, reporting, & reproducibility. @carsonchristiano.bsky.social @stuartbuck.bsky.social @dariosidhu.bsky.social @mariaruthjones.bsky.social

In the NIH's guidance proposing reducing indirect rates, it cites the fact that private foundations pay much less than the NIH But experts I talked to said it's not a fair comparison — here's why: ft. @stuartbuck.bsky.social & @pierre-azoulay.bsky.social 🧪🔬🩺 www.statnews.com/2025/02/27/w...

Just listened (again) to one of my favorite pieces: Aaron Copland's Third Symphony. The last movement ("Fanfare for the Common Man") especially gets to me. So powerfully moving and intense and melodic.

Just read this book today. Well-written, fascinating, and terrifying:

New post! You don't often hear someone speak publicly with this degree of candor about a funding agency or its director. goodscience.substack.com/p/some-candi...

Anyone interested in my Daylight Savings Time compromise? Now that all our clocks are digital, we could have them move forward 20 seconds per night for 6 mos. (just about equalling one hour forward), and then backwards 20 seconds per night for the other 6 mos. Easy!

Wouldn't it be nice if u could read a published pharma-sponsored clinical trial about some new drug & be confident that the results are what they appear to be? @chrisdc77 & I think it's very achievable using the @RegReports peer review model. Our proposal ⬇️ www.openpharma.blog/blog/transpa...

Hospitals: "we demand to charge $15,000 for a service that costs $5,000 in Australia. We never tell the patient the price in advance" Insurance company: "That is too high, we will only pay $12,000" Commenters: "The insurance company is so heartless and cruel!!"

Whether it's FOIA or the Federal Advisory Committee Act, there's a presumption that full transparency is good. Yet everyone knows that if you want to have an honest discussion about anything, you have to promise "Chatham House Rules." Time to rethink FOIA & FACA?

so true
