Anyone who says they want bipartisanship should not be trusted to hold money, teach schoolchildren, or operate heavy machinery.

I just filed my and my wife's taxes. It took ten minutes. I did it from my home office. It was free. Suck it, America.

Well, it's not very elegant, but it passes DRC.

Humanity is getting a very quick refresher course in how evil, dangerous psychopaths can simultaneously be utterly pathetic losers. There is no contradiction!

This stuff is grimly fascinating - so many weird little knock-on consequences, and it's barely begun.

All of these spoke to me, deeply.

Honestly, I just wanted to see if it would work. And it kind of does, doesn't it? Dirty little secret: A lot of the cartridge pins are NC. The Genesis/Mega Drive connector expects 16 data pins and a bunch of other stuff we don't do.

Maybe-not-so-mini?

Ah. Finally located both of my Hyperkin SNES accessories: the gamepad and the mouse. The idea of an optical mouse for the SNES tickles me. Using it for Sentinel 65X is just a natural outgrowth of using SNES pads.

Right, time to test these out. I’ve got modern PSUs for both so I can test the included PSUs separately. #RetroComputing

You know what I hate the most about the whole "retrogames" community? Fucking gatekeepers. All their "real fan" bollocks. I want new people to become interested and involved in retro games. Gatekeepers tend to put people off, usually on purpose. So fuck 'em.

Does anyone else keep a DuPont connector kit on hand so you can take the 15 loose connectors for whatever and make them into a single connector with the right pinout?

*Price is Right sad trombone*

Why am I trying to make my little games console / microcomputer a reality, given how fucked the world is? Self-answering question. The more fucked the world, the more you have to push your dreams, even small ones.

Excuse me while I quietly freak out about maybe having actually finished and delivered a project for once.

one of the most consistently funny conservative guy trait is how they portray themselves as tough leaders who can handle anything you throw at them start stuttering and crying when they have to use a public bus or train

I don't know. Like... ESP32-PICO-D4 + iCE40UP5K -- is that an idea? Certainly inexpensive. What could you get out of that combo?

You know what I like? I like those little plug-and-play TV joystick things with the retro games on them. What I don't like is that they're not programmable. They're barely hackable. I wonder if that'd be a worthy "next thing" to work on: an open source plug-and-play that output HDMI.

TFW you are thinking ahead ten moves, and wonder where the fuck you'd even get fifty of a CPU that Mouser typically has half a dozen to sell.

I used no AI in making Sentinel 65X. All its flaws and foibles are pure organic tomfuckery, grown right here in Ontario, Canada.

Gonna be honest. I want this project done. I want it out the door. I want it to succeed or fail based on the merits of the hardware and design. Most importantly, I want to stop revising it and spinning new boards for it. I want to get this done before I start to hate it.

*cough laughs*

So if I wanted to do some kind of crowdfund for producing the Sentinel 65X Mini, who do I ask for advice? I feel the design is at the point where the only thing left to do is have a couple built to be debugged, followed by the debugged production version being released and sold.

Seriously. Just give me a 32-bit RISC-V chip that runs at 3.3V, and has exposed, non-multiplexed address and data buses.

Apparently the new ESP32 RISC-V SoC is a beast?

It's not lazy. It's pushed on them from above. This is why billionaires should not be allowed to own news outlets.

Dont write code when you're tired. It never goes well.
