For as beloved as Dicey Dungeons is as a #roguelike it’s surprising to me that few (no?) turn based roguelikes use the dungeon clearing level up mechanism, and default to StS’ path technique. Is it a matter of implementation complexity? Or are there other reasons the “dungeon” approach isn’t ideal?

@dieinthedungeon.bsky.social definitely has Dicey Dungeons vibes for me. Really threads that needle between simplicity and interesting interactions. Absolutely loving it

I really loved the concept of Naya’s Quest in the new Terry’s Games Collection… but woof were some of the rough edges around saves tough to get over. Maybe my favorite so far though!!! Games are a strange beast

It seems like the reviews of Altay have been rather mixed, but I quite enjoyed it. It’s hard to tell if I enjoyed the system but not the balance, and it definitely got extra points for feeling like Small World did (one of the first hobby #boardgame I played).

This is a weird one, probably half baked. Me trying to suss out why game memories feel so different from memories about other pieces of art curate.games/p/how-many-m...

Yay release day!! @terrycavanaghgames.com’s other games and @darenn.bsky.social’s Dawnfolk!!! So excited for these

Could not be more excited for the most interesting new civilization game to release this year. I am of course speaking about… Dawnfolk

My dream job is CMYK games. They only seem to put out bangers. And in the most interesting ways possible.

From the adorable flame character to how easy it is to pick up AND NOT PUT DOWN, Dawnfolk is just an outstanding minimal city builder with a ton of events, character, and adorable class. youtu.be/iBBR83NMWTc @darenn.bsky.social #indiegame #indiecreator

King of the Bridge is one of those “boy do I wish there were a million small 1-2 hour long games I could play and enjoy like this”. Superb game. Highly recommend. store.steampowered.com/app/2523120/...

It is absolutely wild how quickly “resonance” became IP references devoid of meaning and creativity for Magic. Huge L. So disappointing.

We did a big Become the Moon update a few days ago! Outside of some polish, this should be the definitive version of the demo. If you haven't tried it, now's the best time! And if you have tried it, please consider leaving a Steam review! store.steampowered.com/app/2871020/...

To celebrate the release of the excellent #LOK digital. I wanted to write about why mobile gaming is a challenging space but continues to put out absolute bangers if you know where to look. curate.games/p/great-mobi...

That is a review of #LOKDigital, the mobile experience. Though I do briefly touch on #LOK the book which is also fantastic, and you can find… here: www.blazgracar.com/lok

This is an S-tier mobile game. So incredible

The mobile version of LOK is outstanding. Everything I could ever dream of. Just go buy it apps.apple.com/app/id647651...

Really excited about this new IP, as opposed to a retread of existing work like Finspan.

Cannot over emphasize how excited I am about this.

This was a great interview. First time listening to the show. Mike Bithell is always a great talker but the questions were also sharp and drew out interesting tidbits.

Was trying to find the right words to talk about the #videogame Ballionaire. And while it clearly is inspired by Balatro and Luck be a Landlord. It most reminds me of… The Incredible Machine. Probably because that was one of the few pc games I was allowed to own.

Great book. I learned a ton about Blizzard. Can’t believe I haven’t read the others yet

All the possible buildings and terrains of Dawnfolk on a single map. 🗺️ #screenshotsaturday #pixelart

Curious what #boardgames people love most for having fun planning? I.e. You finish your turn and you’re thinking through future options while you wait for other people to finish theirs

Nervous to even post this tbh, but this is an attempt to peel back the numerous feelings with the Finspan announcement and the SUSD partnership with Play to Z. (Spoiler: I’m pro both of them) Namely why indie creators get held to such expectations curate.games/p/what-is-se...

Hello! I have something new coming out soon. It's a big collection of some of my favourite little games from the past decade or so. Here's the steam page! store.steampowered.com/app/2824580/...
