Just when I think I have my shit together, the #lexaprowithdrawal reminds me that I have forgotten to take my meds for the last three days. Oops. #iykyk

Finished reading The Devil in Silver by @victorlavalle.bsky.social last night. Tbh, it took me 93% of the book for the genius narrative style to click (that's on me), but once it did? Damn! LeClair the Rat got me there. (1/2)

#tbt One of the best #valentinesday cards/gifts from students because of the inspo after we read Between Shades of Gray by @rutasepetys.bsky.social The punniness was *chef's kiss*. AND some kids went to meet the author for her Salt to the Sea book release & got me a signed copy? Top tier moment.

This article beautifully captures Kendrick Lamar's performance and what it means for black folks and the rest of us. Want to be clear that the meaning isn't the same for everyone, so if you're not seeing it, then that's on you.

Reminder Congress can stop this any time they want.

#otd 2 yrs ago Lucky Boi literally walked into my life. He meandered into the backyard and jumped into my lap when I bent down to give him some snacks. We hung out together all day. He came back the next day and then the next. On that 3rd day I knew he had adopted me. Who's the lucky one?

#otd when I made a crap-ton of #macarons for my French II students. Three of them did an "unboxing" video + review and it was amazing. I wish I had that video.

"If you feel despair, if you feel defeated, if you catch yourself dissociating or focusing on what our oppressors are doing rather than on what you can do yourself—that is territory that the enemy has claimed within you. Give them nothing without a fight."

Books I read: January 2025 1. We Shall Be Monsters by Tara Sim 5 stars. "Claiming that a human woman was a dakini...was not a casual offense. It implied there was something wrong with her-even if she was merely widowed, single, or too smart for her own good." 1st in series. Can't wait for the next!

Don't forget #palestine

#otd when I was a #teacher. 💔

I submitted my #resignation on Friday, basically stating that I would rather withdraw my talent and skill from a compassion-less organization than transfer to another branch. I got transferred to another branch to finish out my two weeks. 😅

Holy fucking shit we knew this was coming. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Congratulations, Democrats. The TikTok ban was initiated by Trump, passed through the House and Senate along bipartisan lines, yet because President Biden signed the bill into law, Democrats allowed Trump to be the hero on this, politically. Absolute malpractice by leadership.

Types of people I don’t want #bookrecs from Part 2: People who are saying “what are all the people going to do now that #TikTok’s banned? Get a job?” or any variation of that. It’s obvious that you: a)missed the whole damn point b)are intentionally obtuse

Imagine still believing that America is the land of the free when they’re doing this to a journalist at a press conference

Not gonna lie, I used #chatgpt for the first time yesterday to help me write a “scathing resignation letter” & it did not disappoint. As a writer, getting started was always the most difficult part of the process, so while I didn’t use the suggested body, the intro and conclusion were def helpful.

Me yesterday: Fuck Zuckerberg. I’m out! Me today:

As a journalist & scholar, I’m inspired by @srseikaly.bsky.social’s words on @democracynow.org: “The way forward is not to be passive & obedient. The way forward is to be ethical & to stand for what is just & to stand against this Israeli genocide which—again—is armed & abetted by the United States”

I hate the 'history will or will not' framing because look around you. Some are still learning that Columbus was great.

For those of us who are in absolute horror as these genocidess continue in our name, we can truly never understand the suffering and destruction for those who remain and continue to survive. But let's not forget their resilience. How many of us could be that strong and courageous every single day?

I love how information like this ignores how motivation to get up to do anything, let alone go the fuck outside to walk, is nearly non-existent when one is suffering from depression. It's why I can't stand my current psych. Yes, Anne, I know exercise is good for me, but I'm on the max dose. Go away.

I eye rolled so hard my damn eyeballs hurt now. Fannie Lou Hamer was given a posthumous medal, but everyone else on this list minus Goodall? Entrepreneurs. CEOs. Celebrities. #gtfohwtbs.

Inspired by @britandherbooks.bsky.social Types of People I Don’t Want Book Recs From Part 1: 1. People who eat Chic-fil-A. If you’re still using your hard earned $ in 2025 to eat mediocre chicken that’s (a)not good for you, (b)actively uses their capital to go after the LGBTQIA community (con’t)

Adding this to my list. Will need to get bumped to the top when it arrives.

On my 2025 To-Read list (I have nearly 1,300 books on my current to-read list, so this list are the “definitely will read this year” titles). Currently reading: A People’s Future of the United States by Charlie Jane Anders et al. I’ve only just started, but the first story is interesting.
