Delighted to reveal that Judith Ralston and I are representing Scotland and Wales… in BBC Weather’s Nana Mouskouri lookalike contest!

🌅 Morning folks, happy Spring Equinox! Enjoy the sunshine on what looks set to be Wales’ warmest day of the year so far… #SpringEquinox

It’s a good day to drop the expression ‘diurnal range’ into conversation. That’s one big difference in temperatures between this morning and this afternoon! 📈

Superb news for Stevie Wonder fans. He’s set to play his first gig in Wales for more than 40 years! The Master Blaster will headline Cardiff’s new Blackweir Live series. His last Welsh gig was in Swansea back in ‘84. Surely no show Hotter than July 9th, this summer?! #StevieWonder

Treated myself to a swim after a long run. Doing lengths, while a few lads play about in the pool. They nearly hit me with a beach ball and say ‘sorry’. I say ‘no problem’… then realise it’s some of the England rugby team. Hope they’re that slippery with the ball on Saturday! 🏉

Dreadlock Holiday, For Your Love, Bus Stop, I'm Not in Love, Things We Do For Love, Heart Full of Soul, For Your Love, Bridge to Your Heart… … as Monday nights in Cardiff go, Graham Gouldman’s band playing that brilliant back-catalogue is hard to beat!

After a mild March weekend with temperatures in the high teens for much of Wales… that’s quite a drop through the rest of this week! 📉

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 From despair to nearly there. We’ve seen Wales turn into comeback kings before… but too much to turn around *that* first half. Well played, Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #SCOvWAL #SixNations

☀️ It’s Wales’ warmest day of the year so far. Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire and Trawsgoed, Ceredigion both recorded 18C by early afternoon… before it started going downhill again.

If you’ve ever sung or danced to ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine’, ‘That Lady’, ‘Summer Breeze’, ‘Harvest For The World’, ‘Caravan of Love’… raise a glass to two soul legends we’ve lost this week. The great Roy Ayers and Chris Jasper (Isley Brothers). #RoyAyers #ChrisJasper

☀️ Enjoy the fine, bright start to March while it lasts… turning more unsettled by the end of the week.

Farewell to the last remaining member of Badfinger. Sad to hear Joey Molland passed away over the weekend. One of the greatest bands to come out of Swansea, Joey played guitar on ‘Without You’, ‘Day After Day’ and the glorious ‘No Matter What’. #Badfinger

⛔ Gridlock causing big delays in mid Wales this afternoon. An obstruction on the Brecon to Builth mountain road.

Farewell (for now), Rob Phillips - the voice of Welsh football. You know you’ve had a great career and will be dearly missed, when *this* many Wales legends turn up to your leaving do! @robphillipshere.bsky.social

At last, it's March 1st. Happy start of meteorological spring, folks. 🌼 (Oh yes... and Happy St David's Day - Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus!) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 #StDavidsDay #DyddGwylDewi

☀️ A welcome outlook for the weekend. Here comes the sun…

So sad to say goodbye to another soul legend. Farewell, Roberta Flack. If you’ve ever sung or moved to ‘Killing Me Softly’, ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’, ‘Back Together Again’, ‘Tonight I Celebrate My Love’ and so many more… raise a glass to Roberta. #RobertaFlack

Some news stops you in your tracks. Unbelievably sad to hear Rick Buckler has died at the age of 69. For many of us, Rick will forever be the young mod in the Jam. The coolest drummer in one of the greatest ever British bands. #RIP #RickBuckler

If you’re fed up of the cold weather, it will turn much milder by the end of the week… but also more unsettled, with rain at times.

Great turnout to say goodbye to some of BBC Wales’ best journalists. Rob, Nick, Margaret, Steve, Pauline, Andrew (front and centre) among those leaving after decades of service. Typically unsentimental journos having their farewell do on Valentine’s night, though!

A warm, personal and recognisable tribute to one of the leading figures to shape Wales through devolution. Martin Shipton’s memories of Dafydd Elis-Thomas.

Happy #NationalWeatherPersonDay! Yes, there is such thing. No, we can't quite believe it either…

If you prefer your winter days on the cold, dry and bright side… here’s a welcome outlook! 🌤

Tried out Ponty parkrun for the first time, with pals from Cardiff. Great turnout on a chilly Saturday morning. Thanks to the volunteers who keep it running! 🏃🏾‍♂️ #Pontypridd #parkrun

My brother predicted a loss of more than 20 points ‘if France were on form’. Laughed and told him he was being a pessimist. Never thought that would have actually been an optimistic outcome for Wales. Ouch! #FRAvWAL 🇫🇷 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Farewell, Marianne Faithfull. The beautiful face and voice of a true icon of the sixties. Tears go by.💔 #MarianneFaithfull

Fed up with all the recent rain? ☔️ A welcome weather forecast! A couple of mostly drier, brighter days to come. 🌤

📻 Used to do the music news for Radio 2, but enjoyed making my BBC Weather debut with Vernon Kay! Lovely to meet Vern, Janine, Phil and the team, doing the show from BBC Wales in Cardiff.

⚠️ Wales likely to see the worst of Storm Éowyn on Friday morning. Rain will clear, but winds remain strong, with severe gales likely in the AMBER warning area. A risk of travel disruption, damaged trees, big coastal waves, power cuts and localised flooding. #StormÉowyn

⚠️ Wales likely to see the worst of Storm Éowyn on Friday morning. Rain will clear, but winds remain strong, with severe gales likely in the AMBER warning area. A risk of travel disruption, damaged trees, big coastal waves, power cuts and localised flooding. #StormÉowyn

⚠️ Our fifth named storm of the season arrives Thursday night into Friday. Disruption likely from Storm Éowyn, as an unusually deep area of low pressure brings severe gales and heavy rain across Wales. #StormÉowyn

It’s been a relatively dry January so far. But we could be in for a wet and very windy end to the week. The jet stream strengthens, bringing some potentially stormy weather by Thursday and Friday.

After 33 years, it’s a sad farewell to one of the most familiar faces on BBC Wales Today. Erika James has been signing news bulletins for the deaf community since 1992. We’ll miss you Erika - enjoy your well-earned retirement! 📺 #BSL

Trying out alternatives to Twitter. I get Bluesky, but still baffled by Instagram. Seems to be endless clips of people tidying their houses or doing timelines of their working day. If the algorithms really worked, I’d have a drip-feed of alternative 80s music videos.

❄️ Last night was the coldest of the winter so far across Wales. 📉 Temperatures dropping to a bitter -8 °C at Tirabad, near Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Here’s a few of the coldest spots.

❄️ Looks like tonight will be the coldest of the winter so far. Temperatures dropped to -4 °C in Bala, Gwynedd last night. Tonight will be even colder. These are the temperatures for towns and cities, likely to be even colder in rural areas inland.

🌅 Welcome news for SAD sufferers. The winter solstice (shortest day) was nearly two weeks ago. But we’ve now reached our latest sunrise time, and it'll start getting lighter earlier in the mornings.

⚠️ A snow warning covers much of Wales this weekend. This frontal system pushes in from the west, hitting the colder air, bringing a risk of snow. Not everyone will see snow, but more likely from Saturday afternoon onwards, followed by milder air moving up from the SW on Sunday.
