Could you answer this question for me please? A newspaper report from 1848 says that 10 sparrow nests were taken from 1 tree, it tallies the eggs and says that the material was used as pig litter. Were sparrows considered a nuisance? Or would this have been for egg collectors? @rspb.bsky.social

Just spent the whole day transcribing data from the 1921 census after I had an idea for a local blog. Found those in the town who gave him as their employer & wanted to finish the anaysis by adding those included on his return as live in servants etc. Can I find him or his house? No!! 😩 #CensusFail

One map, one year... Why don't you spend 2025 exploring your local area in more depth than you've ever done before?

Getting in early for #GenHour as I'll be out later. I have a letter sent to my dad from his father serving abroad in WW2. It was kept folded in a wallet and when I opened it up to read it it fell to pieces. Does anyone know how best to save it? It's on thin blue airmail paper if that's relevant. TIA

Can I repost this for #GenHour please? The original is split over two posts if that makes things clearer. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Anyone know about clandestine marriages in 17/18thc London? Been reading about why a couple might do this eg ages. Would a child born before marriage also be a reason? I've an ancestor with an odd name & have found the baptism of their child & hence the child's mother's first name.
