Byline Times is facing major DDOS (malicious traffic-flooding) issues on our site apparently after this article went live... bylinetimes.com/2025/02/21/d...

This is a brilliant article which I am glad someone has finally written. It's clear that the value is in the *data* and the potential to coerce is part of that value. Normally you can rely on governments to honour their side of the bargain. But when a third party gets in, all bets are off.

West’s ‘crisis’ coalition grows as Trump rails against Zelenskyy www.politico.eu/article/west...

The direction of travel of the Trump administration makes Brexit even more of a disaster than it already was.

Truss, the economic arsonist who tanked the UK in 49 days, now wants a Trump revolution. Far-right Tory grifters like her wreck everything they touch, then beg for more chaos. Britain doesn’t need MAGA wannabes - it needs these clowns to vanish and take their pound-crashing stupidity with them.

It’s perfectly reasonable to suspend elections during wartime - in fact the UK didn't hold elections during World War Two - does Trump think Churchill was a dictator? Polls from last autumn showed that 56% of Ukrainians were against holding elections during the war

"this is a very welcome and common sense move from the Government to give opportunities back to young Brits while helping businesses across the UK struggling with labour shortages... it really is a win-win for both the UK and EU.” @pimlicat.bsky.social www.bestforbritain.org/_government_...

The "party of law and order" has spent 15 years wrecking the justice system. Court backlogs, prison chaos - total failure. Tory shyster Holden, one of their own, exposes their disastrous record: Labour (1997-2010): 27,830 new prison places Tories (2010-2024): 455 #ukpolitics

Britain to offer EU youth mobility scheme in Brexit reset talks 👏 www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

We’re all making fun of you Elon. All of us. We just left your awful site to do it behind your back. Because that’s funnier.

I don't see Trump demanding elections in Russia. ...ironically one year, almost to the day, after Alexei Navalny's murder.

Has anyone of consequence, on the Democrat side, said anything on the Ukraine situation? If they have, I haven't heard it and that silence is deafening. At the very moment when the world needs the US to have strong political opposition, the DEMs seem to have opted for self-imposed exile.

What @mrjamesob.bsky.social is talking about right now is partly why I wrote this last night.

Well said!

Successful second homes crackdown means homes are £30k cheaper for Cymry, who actually need them.

Here's the executive order just signed by Trump. One of the defining features of fascism is that the discretionary power of the leader always prevails over the rule of law.

If the last week has taught me anything it's that Vladimir Putin's millions spent on Russia Today and Sputnik was certainly well invested. An awful lot of awfully gullible people have bought his disinformation crook, lies and stinker.

True Story 😂😂😂

Badenoch, whose party hacked 4% off our GDP, decimating public services, let water companies pour shit into our rivers, presided over one of the highest Covid death tolls in the world, divided the people of this country in two, shafted Northern Ireland…says the Lib Dems would destroy the country 🙄

Trump the "dealmaker". #Ukraine #PutinsPuppet.

Although our motivation for doing cases about sexual misconduct isn't political - our first case was about the Observer - I am very proud that @goodlawproject.bsky.social is now in scraps with both GB News and the Daily Mail. They feel like powerful and malign targets for us to focus on.

Wes Streeting, "I'm not going to pretend that there are enormous challenges in the NHS today" "People struggling to get GP or dentist appointment" Stop hiring PAs, fix the GP contract, and hire the thousands of unemployed GPs

"It would not be unfair to say that Murdoch hacked the British state. But his intrusion into public affairs is nothing like the extent to which Musk has now hacked the United States" @peterjukes.bsky.social How did we go from Murdoch to Musk? A free preview from the new edition of Byline Times! 🔽

Baroness Chakrabarti, "JD Vance says the threat comes from inside Europe, not from China or Russia" "At the moment, what I'm hearing from Kemi Bandeoch is more of the same, culture war stuff"

"Ofwat accused of 'rewarding failure' after handing £15,000 pay rise to its chief executive despite consumers struggling with soaring bills." That takes his basis salary up to £185,000 per year. The Prime Minister is paid £167,000. 🤔

£15,000 pay rise for OFWAT CEO. Must be for performance - water companies dumping sewage in rivers, unplugged leaks, record hike in customer bills, permitting companies to pay dividends Will probably get a job with a water company, previous CEO is director of Thames Water.

Murray's view that (non-white) kids born and raised in Britain aren't really British is long-standing. The recent change is that this view has become normalised/respectable among sections of the Conservative Party, right-wing thinktanks, etc...

Why is it that so many of the *same* figures pushing climate misinformation and denial are also involved in spreading hate? www.desmog.com/2025/02/16/l...

This week is Starmer's biggest test since taking office. He appears to have found a bit of backbone on Ukraine - but will his resolve survive whatever the USA comes back with after its exclusive one-to-one with Russia? Or will he clamber back onto the fence to preserve the "special relationship"?

Putin can end the fighting anytime he wants. He just needs to take his nasty little pockmarked fascist arse and carry it back to Russia where it fucking belongs.

France24 international affairs editor Douglas Herbert said of today's meeting in Paris: “They’re looking at the prospect right now of US & Russian officials giving Putin a free ticket to do as he pleases with Ukraine. That means stripping its sovereignty, ... 1/

We know where the US stands. It is now de-facto pro-Putin. We know where Britain stands. It will contribute troops to prevent Russian aggression. We need to know where Europe stands.
