Here's some intensity that I hope matches everyone's mood today while tending to democracy's garden. 📷🌱

"We must scrupulously guard the civil rights and civil liberties of all citizens, whatever their background. We must remember that any oppression, any injustice, any hatred, is a wedge designed to attack our civilization." — Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1940 📷🌱

I think he's too far gone to understand the consequences of much of anything. Facts to him are like water drops on a filthy griddle — they hit his brain pan, hiss and vanish. Only the grease, built up over years, remains.

Still mind-boggling to me that Trump paid absolutely no reputational price in the media for massively endangering 🇺🇸 national security & shredding our credibility in int’l negotiations by unilaterally withdrawing from the JCPOA. Literally, it had no effect on The Narrative™️ of coverage about him 🤷‍♂️

This is a distinction I will be sure to concentrate on the next time I am wrestled to the floor in handcuffs. Thank you for the clarification.

If you had any doubts about what a craven, despicable bigot Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is, you can stop wondering.

"Be a nuisance where it counts. Do your part to inform and stimulate the public to join your action. Be depressed, discouraged and disappointed at failure and the disheartening effects of ignorance, greed, corruption and bad politics — but never give up." — Marjory Stoneman Douglas 📷🌱

Fence-high when we put her in — a gift from Jeff and Kevin — and look at her now, so tall, with two babies at her feet. Sigh. They grow up before you know it. 📷🌱

"There is nothing more dangerous than a government of the many controlled by the few." — Lawrence Lessig 📷🌱

I heard "Wow, what IS that?" from the other side of the little plumeria. Then the thirtyish visitor from Texas came up the driveway to ask politely about the mussaenda, taking notes on her phone. We careened into a dozen other topics before smiling goodbyes. Curious tourists are such a delight. 🌱📷

We see what they’re doing. They’re baiting us, trying to provoke violence to justify a crackdown. Don’t give them the footage they want. Every broken window becomes propaganda in their hands. Stay sharp. Stay united. We’re here to fight for justice, not feed their narrative.

Yes and yes.

Whatever happened to the idea of context? In the whole saga of his vendettas against Harvard in particular and education in general, few mention that he was the proprietor of a "university" that never granted a degree and had to pay $25 million to settle fraud lawsuits. Facts matter.

Mark Schiefelbein of the Associated Press (still barred from the Oval Office) got this great photo yesterday. That's our cloth, and I couldn't be prouder. 📷🌈

"You don’t need to fit the mold to belong. Your edges, your quirks — they’re not flaws; they’re your fingerprint on the world. Belonging isn’t about blending in. It’s about being seen, fully, as you are — and loved anyway." — @george-station-cat.bsky.social 🌱📷

Too political to stomach: “The decision to pursue the indictment against Abrego Garcia led to the abrupt departure of Ben Schrader, a high-ranking federal prosecutor in Tennessee….” He was chief of the criminal division in the Nashville office, which created the indictments.

A section of our Sea-to-Sea Flag will be front and center at D.C.'s World Pride Parade this afternoon. I wish I could be there to hold it up as I have in the past — here in 2017. It's heavier than you might think, and a beast if the wind lifts it, but a profound honor to bear. 🌈

The Supreme Court decision allowing DOGE full, unfettered access to the public's most sensitive personal data is a loss for all of us. No one in history -- no commissioner, no president, no one -- has ever had the access that these DOGE minions have.

Who needs Nostradamus when Louis Carroll has hidden prophecies? In one "Walrus and Carpenter" stanza alone: - Shoes: Chinese tariffs. - Ships: Renamed vessels. - Sealing wax: Signal security leaks. - Cabbages: Disappeared farm workers....
