Australia's richest 200 people are hoarding $625 billion. We need $10 billion per year to raise the rate to the poverty line. A 2% annual wealth tax on these 200 greedy cunts would cover it. Eat the rich.

Want a good example of how Greens pressure works? There are reports that Labor is going to adopt our "GP for free" policy. If that's true, that's huge news, and it'll be a great help to so many people. More Greens in parliament means more pressure on Labor and better outcomes.

It's odd that Elon Musk's emulation of the Nazis stops short of creating reliable cars and rockets that get to their destination.

We're shocked by Trump and Musk's antics because we judge them against the idea that governments should serve the people. But they have no such intention. Government for them is simply about seizing power and wealth. Let's stop being shocked, and build a global, democratic counter-movement.

Knowledge is power…

Ok, I'm doing a version of this thread for 🧪 who are new to political conditions where info security is a safety issue: 1. Don't make public lists of people who are engaging in acts of resistance 2. Be weary of calls to advertise acts of subversion 3. Don't live post resistance meetings

profile picture pupdate: strong consensus for: dog, but more professional. Introducing my new profile pic:

I can only operate on the assumption that this could happen 500 times a day and journalists would still describe it as a 'controversial hand gesture' Media: you are actively and unforgivably helping murderous racists and violent bigots when you do this. Stop, we are begging you

We killed all the dingoes and quolls and this is the result. An introduced pest species eating all the introduced crops.

Record year for government subsidised rooftop PV takes total installed under state scheme to the equivalent of one of Victoria's largest coal-fired power stations

Government’s wins are often invisible: Systems that avoid plane crashes; alliances that avert war; surveillance that prevent pandemics. Government wins are often *the avoidance of loss.* So how do we tell the story of the destruction of government? The story of future losses *not* averted?

For decades, fossil fuel companies have engaged in cycle of making climate action commitments, then walking away, while still greenwashing to keep public and investor favour. Companies like ExxonMobil, Chevron, BP, and Shell continue prioritising fossil fuel profits over decarbonisation

For many years, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef agency has provided weekly briefings throughout summer months. Last year, the briefings consistently downplayed the worst due-off of corals ever recorded. This summer, the briefings have been quietly silenced. And the media sleeps on.

I keep coming back to this article. I set it as reading for my students and it should be a reminder reading for every comms person - especially those trying to get their communities ready for a disaster. ssir.org/articles/ent...

Making green iron in Australia is a critical part of driving global emissions down to zero - quick thread on why given the developments in Whyalla this week. First up - Each year Australia pulls almost 1bn tonnes of iron ore out of the ground - 39% of total annual production.

"In this society, nearly all power is distributed according to the imperative to turn a profit. And since the essence of profit is the concentrating of wealth in fewer hands, it should be no surprise that the disparities in our society are intensifying so rapidly." crimethinc.com/antiwork

The onion eating budgie smuggler gets confused about which genocidal colony he belongs too.

I can’t remember where I read this, but it’s important: Why is it that when people think about traveling to the past, they worry about doing something small that will drastically change the present, but no one in the present thinks that doing something small today can drastically change the future?

Today, Kennett has a column in the Herald Sun calling Jacinta Allen's "rail projects a waste of taxpayer money" except, I remember something from my early (teenage) days as a cadet. I then check my own archives. Yep, what Dan Andrews started building was originally proposed by ... Kennett. Whoops.

Clive Palmer announces his new political party named Trumpet of Patriots

According to the trump Golf Tracker website, out of 29 days in office so far, trump has spent 7 of them golfing -- that's 24.14% ALREADY. What a fucking freeloader.

Your regular reminder that Clive Palmer has been facing criminal charges since 2018 (his last appeal to have those charges dismissed was thrown out in February 2024; the court described the delay as an abuse of process; he has since appealed to the High Court) www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...
