Libraries do so much more than books: Some have free grocery stores!

8 years ago in March 2017, I published a zine titled "Why Protest" and it compiled responses to this question that I got from FB and Twitter. www.thepicis.org/why-protest/ The project then grew when a comrade who teaches high school students worked with them to create their own zine.

I also think that many people are already acclimated to a police state in the U.S.

This article is great, but I would like to add: "many resources" does not mean "enough resources." When evictions happen, Shelter Connect rarely finds more than single digits of beds. There are LOTTERIES just to get on the WAITING LIST for housing. Nobody WANTS Frey's number to be wrong, it just is.

Even the Strib is basically calling Jacob Frey and MPD liars. Gift link: www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...

Reminder: Right now we've only gotten to a point where we can get a STUDY on a pedestrian option at GFS.

www.gofundme.com/f/a-mother-s... Can you help my community member, Peace? She has raised enough that she won't have the eviction on her record now, but the landlord still wants her to move out by the end of the month and so she needs moving costs as well till emergency rental assistance kicks in 💸💕

In related news, I placed the largest supply order in @supplydepotmpls.bsky.social's history this week, to beat the anticipated tariff price increases. If you have a few $$ to spare, we could use help. SupplyDepotMpls.com

Great opportunity to be aware of in May. @marymoriarty.bsky.social @hennepinatty.bsky.social

We would love for these numbers to be correct, but...

We don't even have to tell y'all it's a lie if you live here, but just in case, consider this confirmation 🫶🏻

We are still seeing 90+ people on Fridays alone ❤️

Solidarity - Franklin library has always been an important space for all of Minneapolis's communities. AIM organized here. This is not ground we will cede to fascists and cop wannabes who get off on power & control they can hold over vulnerable people. @angry-grandma612.bsky.social's video in link

This could be my child...if I were a lot younger.

You cannot mobilize the masses without normies and cringe. It was ever thus.

We can't be out here poo-pooing people for finally gathering in the streets/capitols/post offices/parks. Yeah, it's step one. Everybody started with a step one. We're not going to keep them going by popping their balloons. It's time for encouragement & to provide opportunity for further action.

I think it's amazing the incredible art that creative and talented people are producing for this!!

At the #handsoff demonstration in MN, in that whole sea of people, I didn't see a single counter protester. Not one. No pro-trump signs, no red hats. Just a whole lot of people who love justice, rule of law, schools, empathy, health care, libraries, parks, science, fairness and democracy.

Make sure you're providing further & further opportunities for people to grow & pick up skills & carry their momentum forward. Give each other things to sustain. Don't look back. Keep moving!

people being in the streets means something. never let your cynicism convince you otherwise.

This is $10,000 of damage directed at a resource center that helps Indigenous women and families. They have so many amazing programs, for low income families or people escaping dv, for substance use disorder or for early childhood family education. They need us to step up for them this time.

MIWRC is currently fundraising to replace all of the windows that were broken in that hateful vandalism incident last month - please help and boost as you can! givebutter.com/MIWRC?fbclid...

Read this whole thread. Everyone has to figure out how to resist in their own way, but give me an Erez Reuveni over 1,000 of the federal resignations with stirring letters. (Private-sector public resignations, like from Paul, Weiss, are the right thing to do IMO)

So many things none of us will perceive will come out of today's gatherings. That's the point. People find each other, they take some strength and remember they aren't actually isolated and alone. This is fortification for what's to come.

I'm in for $100, match me

Wow. #HandsOff rally in St. Paul, Minnesota is massive!

Minneapolis—in the spirit of this, join me @ 🩵✨💩 Give A Shit Day 💩✨🩵 "Like a Scholastic Book Fair for getting involved!" 📚📓👥🧑‍🧒‍🧒❣️ Sunday, April 6 3-7p Bumbling Fools Mead 2010 E Hennepin Ave • meet neighbors • make rad art • learn together • uplift mutual aid • find your people • fight w/ tools

Minneapolis & beyond— We need to see this & remember that the purpose of a rally is to find your people & get plugged in to other actions, events, networks, & forms of resistance taking place with people where you're at. Get connected. Stay getting out there. This isn't one & done. Get fighting.

Dear Mayor Frey- let me provide you with evidence of an uptick in MPD aggression. Outreach workers are experiencing it first hand, plus we hear about it constantly from our unhoused neighbors. Both MPD and MetroTransit PD have become more aggressive over the last few months.

Hey, what a cool project! I love this!

In a numbers disparity of this scale, it's kind of fun to look at who is touting which numbers. One is a mayor who ran on solving homelessness, during an election year, the other is a completely volunteer run organization in which none of us experience material gain from any external sources... Hmm!

Love it when Frey, unprompted, forces a Fuck FreyDay on a Wednesday ❤️

We know that the city policy and constant sweeps leave our neighbors more vulnerable. Without the support of community, the threats of violence, overdoses, trafficking, and ICE all increase.

I can name more than 27 unhoused folks in Minneapolis off the top of my head. That’s because to those of us who work with them, these are our neighbors, individuals with their own stories, hopes and dreams. They’re not a statistic for Mayor Frey to lie about repeatedly in his election campaign.
