Lots of Los Angeles area homes have wood-burning fireplaces (including mine), which are so unnecessary! There are occasional “No Burn Days” based on air quality but they’re not sufficiently publicized.

it’s a great time to remind everyone to keep your cats indoors. i don’t want to hear that shit about how your cat is desperate to go outside or is used to being out there. i had an outdoor cat i had to bring inside after 13yrs. i know how they are. she lived to 20. they’ll get over it & so will you.

This #ThrowbackThursday, a lovely 1935 graphic brochure on restoring Iowa's forest cover by the Iowa State Planning Board. It shows erosion in the 1930s wasn't just a Great Plains problem. The indiscriminate sale of public (stolen) lands caused farming in marginal areas. Read the foreword text! 1/

Had hip replacement surgery today (my second). Feeling lucky that I “only” had to pay $3300 out of pocket after a 5 month wait. Seeing so many worse stories of insurance companies refusing to pay.
