Easter baking to date: hot cross buns (with wobbly crosses) and lamala, a traditional cake from Alsace. #Easter

Spring in Alsace - it took a while to arrive!

A death record I stumbled across while helping my husband to research his family in the canton of Vaud - no known link to"his" Rochats, but still pretty cool! #Genealogy

Birds on/underneath the feeder today: great tits, blue tits, marsh tits, coal tits, sparrows, robin and jay. Among these, one great tit and one coal tit with only one foot each - they've been regular visitors for a while. #Birds #Oiseaux #Wildlife

We're off - operetta #6 is officially under way! #Music #Choir #Orchestra

Annotations in church registers can be invaluable to family historians - provided you can actually read them! One of the more legible extracts from my husband's direct line in Switzerland in 1683... #Genealogy #Lauterbrunnen

Somehow I didn't expect to find a butcher serving in the Army Veterinary Corps in WWI. 🙄 #Genealogy #WWI #Stockport

Freshly baked focaccia: rosemary, goat cheese and potato.

Ready for pressing and framing - I'm rather pleased with this one! #Crafting #CrossStitch #PointDeCroix #Owl

Working on my database of #WWI soldiers from #Stockport, and I've found one who enlisted under his mother's maiden name. Not illegitimate; all other records under his birth surname, so there's got to be a story there somewhere? #Genealogy

A lingering virus, December/January concerts and flu (in overlapping order) meant #Genealogy took a back seat for a while, but I'm finally back working on my #Stockport #WWI database. Today's best find: a newspaper transcription of names from another "lost" local Roll of Honour.

Lilou on the tray of small grandson's blackboard. No idea why.

Some storks are already back at our local colony - the first ones arrived at the end of last week, which is at least 2 weeks earlier than usual. Did they winter in S. Europe, rather than Africa, making the return journey shorter? #Birds #Migration #Cigognes #Alsace

Some French crisp flavours are slightly weird...

Our last concert of 2024 was on 21 December (unusually late), and we kicked off 2025 with 2 weekends of "café-concerts" in January - songs, sketches and instrumental numbers in a bistrot setting. A fun fundraiser! #Music #Harmonie #MusiqueMunicipaleMasevaux

We now have the beginnings of an owl. #CrossStitch #PointDeCroix #Craft

Caught a nasty virus/cough a week before Christmas and still haven't really thrown it off. At least I've made progress with the cross stitch kit I was given 2 years ago. 😕
