Many clinical trials investigating treatments for anorexia nervosa are focusing on Family Based Treatment, however, there are also trials testing exposure therapies, virtual reality, telehealth, and psychedelics. Erica emphasises that we need more long term follow-ups on these trials. #ClinPsy

Next, Prof Lucie Ramjan discusses an evaluation of the Wandi Nerida residential care facility. Clients at Wandi Nerdia highlighted that the environment gave them hope and created a sense of normality. Lived experience staff members were also highly valued.

Parents reported that their experiences were improved when a GP, psychiatrist, etc. called ahead to tell the hospital that they were coming.

Research that Kamryn and her team have conducted suggests that estrogen is low in anorexia nervosa. Novel and ongoing research is now investigating if estrogen can be administered as a treatment for eating disorders. Results to come next year! #ClinPsy

Longitudinal research on eating disorders has demonstrated that although there is lots of diagnostic crossover from anorexia nervosa into other eating disorders, people with a diagnosis of ARFID rarely go onto develop a different eating disorder. #ClinPsy
