museumsandheritage.com/advisor/post... Good news for museums, libraries and heritage venues in England …

We welcome the £270m investment announced today - a vital recognition of the direct benefit of heritage on people and places. Much of our cultural infrastructure, from museums to theatres, is also part of our heritage that will benefit from this funding. www.gov.uk/government/n...

@heritagealliance.bsky.social has the best venues for its Board Meetings. Huge thanks to one of our Members, of whom there are now more than 200. @heritagelizzie.bsky.social @carolelsouter.bsky.social

The absurd statements from the ghastly Trump are only half the drama. All the things Trump didn’t say are the issues we need to stand up for, to bring about a fairer society where democracy isn’t undermined by oligarchs. Go, Bernie … youtu.be/YBBJshGsYK8?...

Courage right here ⬇️

If she can do it, we can all do it.

This is the face of courage and compassion. Thank you Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde for speaking truth to power on behalf of the marginalized.

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... Courage from a pulpit. More of us need to stand and be counted.

Shakespeare knew a tempest when he saw one. The ghastliness of Musk’s nazi salute at the inauguration says everything about the risks of electing politicians who put power before people.

You don’t need the sound to know the sign. How did millions of Americans sign up for this abomination?

If you care about museums, ghosts are a concern … “a museum of the world, for the world” but the world hasn’t agreed. www.theguardian.com/culture/2025...

Happy Winter Solstice to all those in the northern hemisphere! The precise moment to celebrate is 9:21am GMT. Today in London is only 7 h, 49 min & 42 s long. Pic by Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2021 entrant György Soponyai. Solstice explanation & more here: www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topi...

Hopeless era in British politics, when a person well known and widely reported for his misogynist, homophobic observations is “elevated” to the Upper House. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Makes no sense to lock up a person of her age. Get her a tag, even an iPhone Apple tag, a “find Gaie” tag, but don’t clog up the prison system ffs.

This. This. This. And that message carries across a huge range of circumstances.

Once again, a leader who seems unable to do the right thing. The Archbishop of York has mishandled a case and does not know when to go. He should go. Now. To her very considerable credit, @helenannhartley.bsky.social has the judgement and moral courage to say what we all think - loudly and clearly.

Well, I had no intention of buying an EV, but now I have a cast-iron reason not to have a Tesla … www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Same principle ⬇️ when hiring staff … fast walkers improve productivity and help manage calories in workplaces.

Meanwhile…

The most worrying aspect is not Fiona Bruce, the BBC or Nigel Farage … it’s a reckless electorate, weary of dumb politicians and their soon-broken pledges and generally shabby values. Oh yes, we the people have been ill-served, and now we’re chucking it right back at ‘em. Be afraid, be very afraid.

When an archbishop has such poor judgement … and fails to understand how to say “sorry” … and when the institution he leads has yet to clean up its act. Wow, why is this church still “established” and - despite evident failings - allocated seats in the Upper House? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I’d never heard of Gregg Wallace until he started defending the indefensible. Now I’m thinking he’s a pillock, a deliberate plant - an example of AI at work - an uncouth bloke of a certain age, deployed by the state to help bury bad news. Not working though - still seeing the bad stuff. BBC 🙄

Example from games industry, but heritage amnesia - loss of memory of past events - is a risk in every field. Without systematic physical and digital preservation, many histories and perspectives will be lost forever. #archives matter #museums too #histories #heritage #knowledge #learning #memory

So many women footballers to choose from, but the BBC gives its name to a winner who might - or might not - be a woman? And - ever since 2011 - FIFA is MIA. #SaveWomensSports www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

As a parish councillor in an east coast village with a harbour and slipway, I am familiar with the issues. However, this steep increase in charges in Minehead is heartless and reckless. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Now 32 plaques, and counting. The women of Essex commemorated for their multiple historic contributions …. essex-lieutenancy.org.uk/special-proj... #heritage #essex

I had the pleasure of working on projects with him in the late 1980s. Meetings were never dull - he was a one-off with political courage, a big heart and a huge sense of humour. The world needs genuine characters - he changed lives and was one of the more memorable figures of his day. RIP
