Free speech, land of the free latest:

Dear Labour Party, please do a leadership coup now. This iss just inept and embarrassing, on top of all the other shit. Do a coup! Now! Not five minutes before the next election! www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

'Less a straightforward music history than a layered meditation on obscurity, memory and sonic heritage, this tenderly written book amplifies the overlooked echoes behind Sheffield's electronic music' Studio Electrophonique by @coldtapfilms.bsky.social) reviewed in @thewiremagazine.bsky.social

Worzel knows. Preach!

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... Hey @garypleece.bsky.social your old mob get a brief mention towards the end of this.

Meanwhile, in one of the wars taking place now, the senseless slaughter continues. Names and real lost lives put to some of the horrific numbers. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Suggested plan for non-right UK parties: 1: Try making decisions / polices based on what is ‘morally right’ NOT what advisors say might win votes at the next election 2: Don’t be cunts. You won’t out-cunt Reform/Tories. Cunt voters won’t believe you and you will lose non-cunt voter trust.

He’s got away with untold crimes, lies & offences. He’s achieved the highest office in the land. Twice. He’s lining his pockets on an industrial scale & persecuting his enemies for fun. But he’s still a miserable, bitter, humourless & furious man. Because deep inside, he knows *exactly* who he is.

‘You'll be hard pressed to find another book this heartwarming or magical in 2025.’ Jeremy Allen's review of Studio Electrophonique, @coldtapfilms.bsky.social's brand new book, in the latest issue of Record Collector magazine. Studio Electrophonique is out now! #booksky #bookreview

Snooker not my game but this is a remarkable story www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/a...

A musical Maundy Thursday linking two Mancunian institutions. Fitting funeral for Andy Peebles in Darwen - through the Earthquake, Wind and Fire - followed by an hour of Britten and Beethoven at the Halle. More culture tomorrow - Widnes v Oldham.

Guys, what the fuck are we doing here!? Like, what the fuck are we doing?

At last, first Willow Warbler of the year, on the way back from Park Run. (Me, not the Warbler) And how good was HKR v Wigan last night? two quality teams, and HKR create a great spectacle.

Driving home the other day I noticed the Oil Seed was coming into flower, we'll soon have another fine crop of indie bands just in time for #rsd #rsd25 #rsd25

Common Sandpiper at Sale Water Park; general birdsong everywhere; and more huge quarter finals today, in Challenge Cup and 1895. The fecundity of April, as someone said on radio 3

Robert Peston, "Carney stands up to Trump.. Keir Starmer is placating Trump, which is better?" Geoffrey Hinton, "Mark Carney's approach is the right approach. Trump is a bully. If you stand up to bullies, you might get somewhere" "Trying to placate bullies. That sounds like 1938 to me"

So it's a blanket 10% tariff on top of 25% on car makers and 25% on steel and aluminium. This is alongside the trade barriers put up by Brexit. It is pathetic to see Labour and Tory MPs trying to spin this as a victory it's clear we will all lose out. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

So, Le Pen gets banned from running for election because she’s found guilty of embezzlement and her far-right fanclub starts huffing and puffing about whether this is democratic. Err. Yes. If you’re found guilty of corruption, you’re unfit for public office. It doesn’t matter how ‘popular’ you are.

It’s only embezzlement if it’s from the Embézzle region of France. Otherwise it’s just sparkling corruption.

Our govt and the Tories say they want a deal with Trump to avoid tariffs (and to try to assert some desperate Brexit ‘benefit’) Not sure it’s ever been quite so screamingly obvious that the deal we need is with the EU and not this vengefully deranged and dangerous MAGA outfit.
