“They’re too emotional for the job!” Let me tell you… I’ve seen this in 90% of my masculine managers and 0% of my feminine managers. Get it right.

Why would you go to Pleasure Island, as a full-on marionette, and not think you’d get turned into a donkey? Grow up, Pinocchio.

@hazelweakly.me Wait, are you talking about caching with a bunch of my nerd friends tomorrow? Omg, I’m so jealous! They’re in for a treat! 💜

In Linux Foundation meetings, my company name now shows up as Layered System, which is my new consultancy. HTTP nerds: Hey, nice! Everyone else: What are you doing, AI-powered wedding cakes or something?

Pro tip: If you go to a conference and want to be low-key for a while, maybe don’t dye your hair a bright color and be instantly recognizable by everyone you know on the Internet.

I’m starting up my consulting business again after a 5 year hiatus. It’s never been easier to do this work. I made a lightweight CRM in Notion. I’m using Xero for accounting, Zoom for meetings and transcripts, Calendly for scheduling. Getting up and running has been smooth.

I just started using Notion, and I’m kind of way into it. I basically just created a whole CRM system for myself in no time. Every customization I want, it supports. This is pretty nice.

What do you think, are the "build in public" people annoying or are they cool? I'm growing one business while trying to launch another, but I'm not being public about it.

I was just having a casual conversation over Zoom. I looked down... and I was covered in HUNDREDS OF ANTS. They came out of nowhere. I tried to play it cool on the call. I was not successful. What is this, some kinda hex? Ffs...

I’m speaking at DeveloperWeek Santa Clara on Feb 12. I’ll be talking about the new OpenAPI Overlay Specification!

My GPG key expired today. Huh. I should put that on my calendar.

I needed to file a DBA for my business, so I went through LegalZoom. All they did was fill-in my business name on a form, ask me to print it out, and request I mail it back to them? The post office is next to the county clerk's office. I had to ask for a refund 3 times. 🙄

I think they could spin off this Severance world for the next 10 years. It’s so interesting.

it was around the eighth tweet in a thread when i eventually gave it up and wrote this up. lots of chatter around deepseek, but i'm curious about its implications for the enterprise. redmonk.com/sogrady/2025...

Life update: I’m self-employed.

I watched Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne. I gotta say. This is kinda my thing. I love monsters.

I’m a hyper-learner, aka possibly autistic, according to my therapist.

The Incremental HTTP Messages draft has been approved! This adds support for an "Incremental" header to indicate to intermediaries (e.g., proxies, gateways) that the message will be sent in chunks. This is applicable to server-sent events (SSE), for example. datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ka...

Credential management still exists in this scenario, but it's delegated to the email provider. This is about risk mitigation for the resource or service provider, not value creation for the consumer, which is fine but should still be noted. FIDO2 with Passkeys is a bit more consumer-focused, IMHO.

My kids were never more impressed with me than when I told them I worked with software people at Roblox.

The OpenAI API has been down for over 4 hours. I feel for the operators who have to deal with this during the holiday season. They say it's due to an upstream provider, which is ironic, because _they_ are an upstream provider for many products. API availability runs the whole world.

Did you know that KDL is used as part of a spec pre-processor by a bunch of standards committees, including CSS, C++, WHATWG, various W3C working groups, and others? github.com/speced/bikes...

I’ve been in meetings for the last 5 hours, starting at 7:30AM. 😵‍💫💀

Having lots of experience with distributed systems is paying off with this multi-agent AI architecture (it's a chatbot, y'all). You can still get deadlocks and distributed, infinite loops. You need rate-limiting, quota management, traces, context propagation, timeouts, retries, bulkheads, etc.

It is impressive to be this thoughtful on this subject given how flip-the-table outrageous the quoted material is.

I had a conversation with my kids that led to me trying to convince them a sandwich is a handheld lasagna. And now I’m getting high on my own supply. It just makes sense.

Gremlins 2 is goofy af. Self-referential, 4th wall breaking, obsessed with showing critics they don’t care. The making-of documentary is probably like an 80s teen summer flick. How tf is Christopher Lee in this? lmao

I have been so deep into making multi-agent AI projects, it might be unhealthy. I just like bots, y’all.

I'm usually very patient and forgiving. Lately, I've been letting myself get irked by certain people's behavior. It has left me ranting to myself. It's not a good look.

I haven’t worked with people in a long time. I gave them a proposal. They reminded me of the near-term goal. While my plan was good, it was deemed too ambitious and would take too long. They misunderstood. I did it all yesterday afternoon. I wasn’t asking permission. I was reporting real results.
