Fascinating how everyone pretending Mamdani said “globalize the intifada” ignores the fact that the First Intifada was primarily peaceful protests and the Second Intifada started as peaceful protests until Israeli soldiers killed over 100 Palestinian protestors.

At this point no one except random internet trolls is actually denying that IDF soldiers have murdered hundreds of starving Palestinians in line for food — they’re just trotting out the old “a few bad apples” argument to deflect the blame to individual soldiers. This is in some ways more insidious.

Auntie Sophia, why are make words instead of make skritches?

The absurd comparisons of Mamdani’s win to Kristallnacht really highlights the absurd standard to which every Muslim (and many non-Muslims) in the US is held, where the only way to prove we don’t want to commit hypothetical genocide is to to support the actual genocide that is actually happening.

this is an embarrassing thing for this guy to say in public but also touches on something that constantly rankles me, which is the vague idea of "feeling unsafe" as a problem that someone else needs to solve for you regardless of whether you are actually unsafe or not

Also as someone whose mom is from the same group as Zohran’s dad it is WILD that I have seen 267,895 people talk about his lack of unconditional support for Israeli apartheid and literally one (1) person mention that our people were kicked out of two separate continents due to religion & race.

I think this is the first time I have heard an American elected official acknowledge Iranian Americans in a capacity other than “maybe these people shouldn’t be allowed in our country”

"I feel like people misunderstood my $250,000 for Cuomo for real enthusiasm" belongs in the Louvre

@joyannreid.bsky.social's retelling of CIA/State Dep't involvement in Iranian revolution shouldn't be controversial, it's just history. It's literally on the CIA's website! It's brave of her to do this but it's insane that calmly stating the TRUTH got this reaction. www.cia.gov/readingroom/...

In light of… everything, I am seeking recommendations for books that will make me laugh. They do not have to be happy/lighthearted books — many of the funniest moments I’ve ever encountered are in horror novels — but I miss the feeling of full-body laughing. Any genre, BIPOC author preferred.
