Releasing your fully coasted budget in an election after the debates so you cants be called out for wild math errors and assumptions. Fun!

“The EU, Britain and other rule-of-law democracies need to work together rather than pursue their ‘national interest.’ The democracies must find a common front as an exercise in damage limitation, & then go beyond that to fashion a new trade order from the ruins of the old – but without the U.S.”

When we talk about how stagnant the Canadian economy has been for the past decade, let’s not forget that the Harper government doubled down on oil and gas. The global oil price crash of 2014 set the stage for that regardless of who was running the country.

Everytime we say, “that’s a great building but just not here”, or “8 stories is too much for this neighbourhood, 4 is enough” we’re essentially asking for higher taxes or less services from our municipal government.

Summary of the global trade war. Trump’s tried to impose US dominance over every nation at once, assuming in a global game of chicken they’ll be responsible and blink first to avoid recession. Rest of the world’s leaders know you can’t trust his word, cave once and he’ll be back again expecting more

Easy to say because I already live in one, but a detached house should be viewed and priced as a luxury item and not the default form of housing if we care about good urban planning, and climate mitigation. Apartments and condos should be easier to get permission to build and cheaper to rent or own.

OMFG ICE has become the thought police, capable of enforcing illegal ideas.

Watch closely for what Trump says today about the international court. The stronger he condemns it, the more likely he know that some of his policies are in violation of international law, and he's looking to illegitimize it to protect himself.

It’s obviously not one of tue biggest concerns, but something I’ve been wondering. What will the strain on Canadian/US relations and the decrease in cross-boarder traffic mean to Buffalo area pro sports teams? About 10-15% of their attendance is estimated to come from the Canadian side.

Noticed this while watching the game too, and all I could think of was ‘yup, that’s about right, so disappointing’ The people you choose as friends is a reflection of who you are.

Here’s a sample of what Fox News thinks is bigger news than the worst day on the stock market since the Covid Crash. Not even a headline story, but a sub story to the 4th headline on their site. No wonder 1/2 the nation lives in an alternate reality.

A US company paying US taxes builds a mine in Canada, take a tonne out of the ground and sends it to the US for US consumption. That’s what a trade deficit with the USA looks like. Tariff it you either have to mine it in US at a higher cost, pay the tariffs, or do without. Lose, lose, lose options.

Want to make completely unacceptable past comments go away, write a book that makes your party leader look like a political saviour. Just like Trump flattery will get you everywhere.

The Wedge on Much Music used to have all the cool bands. Found this today interview and video for @bettieserveert.bsky.social from 97. I think it’s been 20 years since Bettie Serveeet played Toronto. Please come back! m.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq26...

ABC News: "An unthinkable breach of national security." CBS News: "An unthinkable breach of national security." MSNBC: "An unthinkable breach of national security." CNN: "An unthinkable breach of national security." Fox News: "We've all texted the wrong person before."

This article shows why removing the tolls was a bad idea. For the first time ever, there are no tolls on #Halifax bridges. Why now? #NovaScotia Some critics are questioning the move to eliminate the fees to cross the harbour spans www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I can’t think of a worst potential transportation idea for London. www.ctvnews.ca/london/artic...

CARTOON OF THE DAY 😕🇺🇸

I’m sure not everyone who will vote for Pierre Poilievre in this year’s Canadian Federal Election would want Canada to be annexed by the United States. But I’m also sure that everyone who would support Canada being annexed by the United States will be voting for Pierre Poilievre. Think about that.

Where going to make the US safe again by, check notes ‘ignoring laws and courts and detaining people we don’t like without charges or due process’. Yup safe, just like North Korea.

Here’s the thing with the US political right and their use of the term ‘free-loading’, it’s rarely used correctly. A good example of an actual freeloader would be US climate action, they benefit in part by every other nations efforts while cancelling any effort they might make themselves.

When Canada’s national railways were built there was as a real emphasis on East/West movement of goods and people. As trade shifted to a North/South focus large network gaps formed as railways abandoned sections of track. As we rebuild trade patterns maybe we should start with rebuilding railways?

Lost train stations of London, ON. Michigan Central had running rights to London and ran freight and passenger service on the London and Port Stanley line till 1915 when the city purchased and electrified the line. Station was demolished in 1937.

Never trust someone who claims to have all the answers. Trust someone who asks questions and willing to learn the learn the answers. The smarter someone is, normally the more they understand how much they don’t know.

This point is doubleplusgood

The forgotten second rail link between London and Port Stanley. Operating from 1902 to 1918 this offered a slower route but with more local connections than the rival London and Port Stanley Railway. Some remnants of the route can still be found in Old South.

Could it be true, could the Eglinton Crosstown actually be opening this summer? Fingers crossed. Should have been build a full subway, but better transit is still better transit. m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xa0o...

This is the 3 story building on undeveloped land that people bear White Oaks and Southdale lost their shit over when it was proposed. Think of the children!

Make no mistake about it, Trump is taking notes from Putin on how to annex your neighbour.
