Excited to be going to a screening of new Nicolas Cage movie The Surfer tonight, followed by a Q&A with Irish director Lorcan Finnegan. Bullies on the beach. I’m calling it Break(ing) Point. @lighthousecinema.bsky.social

Just booked a ticket for this. #ILFD

I'll be reading my poem 'Gutted' at the launch of Washing Windows V @booksupstairs.bsky.social tonight. It's the last anthology in @arlenhouse.bsky.social series which celebrates poetry by Irish women & I'm honoured to have my work included in 4 of the 5 collections🙏 booksupstairs.ie/product/wash...

@davidcollard.bsky.social @ronanhession.bsky.social I finally got to the bottom of that book! Turns out it was my mother’s mother’s book, published in 1954! By John D. Sheridan. He wrote humorous novels and essays and had a column in the Indo. Apparently our copy is long gone, sadly.

Actually @davidcollard.bsky.social , @ronanhession.bsky.social , maybe you can help. I’ve been trying to remember the author of a book my parents had (in the 70s/80s). It was a book of humorous essays. I’m fairly sure it was called ‘The Humour is on me now’. But it’s un-Googleable. Ring any bells?

My column this week is about Louis Theroux’s The Settlers www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2025...

Such fun at the launch of Caroline Madden’s ‘The Marriage Vendetta’ this evening. Can’t wait to read it! Met some lovely other authors too, came home with their books as well! ‘The Couples’ by @lmack.bsky.social and ‘The Polite Act of Drowning’ by @charleenhurtubise.bsky.social .

I think there should be a legally binding test for columnists and other professional opinion havers to write exactly what they think "woke" means.

Looking forward to the launch of Caroline Madden’s debut, The Marriage Vendetta, this evening in Dubray Books.

Very powerful, important ‘message’ about writing and journalism by Ta-Nehisi Coates in the book ‘The Message’. On the lack of Palestinian voices and journalists in Western media, so we really hear so little of what goes on in Palestine every day. An eye-opening book.
