Here we go again. Going to use this an excuse for a few days exploring Leeds, because the last time I was there, it was only for an hour before I was back on the train!

After Manchester the other day, a full blown Autechre world tour is happening, including a fairly beefy run across North America! I’ll be seeing you all in Leeds.

HOLY MOLY

Had to leave slightly early to catch the last train, but Autechre have successfully reminded me why they are the MVPs of sound. Mind melting, glorious electronics!

Live from the front row at Autechre: we appear to be suffering from technical difficulties, which isn’t great when my train is at 11:25pm

You can tell it’s ’leftfield electronic music’ night in Manchester, because Vinyl Exchange sold the SND LP I had my eye on last night! Argh!

Off to Manchester, it’s a gig night and that gig is flippin’ Autechre, so I am very excited

Last night on Wikipedia, I was reading about Brilliant, a SAW produced group involving Youth, Jimmy Cauty, and even Bill Drummond (Atlantic’s A&R at the time) Which makes it hilarious I found this in Rough Trade today, for 25 flipping pence

Yippee

Five years ago. Fuck.

Tonight’s listening was the previously mentioned ‘Blacklands’ by Music for Pleasure from 1982. Definitely feels a bit indebted to Joy Division at points, but does more than enough to stand apart too.

I need to make some more tunes at some point. Mayhaps some solo Model:Samples jams

Tonight's (re)listening was Coucy Pack by Tone Rec from 1999. A wicked album, and probably one of the best pressed vinyl in my collection too. Ended up with a fair few Sub Rosa releases from my local record shop now - all somehow untouched since 1999! subrosalabel.bandcamp.com/album/coucy-...

I found Stan Bush and Barrage in the record shop for a fiver again earlier, and I have realised I need it, so a return trip is on the cards for tomorrow

Me: man, it’s great to have IF Liokaiser on the shelf, even if Hasbro dropped one a week after I finished it 3P Legends companies: how about a Raiden for the shelf too. Me: well shit

There is suddenly a decent amount of Norman Connors records about in Liverpool. Aquarian Dream still eludes me though!

It’s been five minutes, and one of IF Liokaiser’s nunchaku points has disappeared. Augh!

Only thing that really grabs me for RSD25 is this one by Propaganda, well-timed with P-Machinery’s appearance in some car ad www.recordstoreday.co.uk/record/p:Mac...

Today’s record acquisition. I’m a big fan of ‘Occuptation.’

I don’t know about you Argos, but I don’t think people want to be turned into a Cyberman for Valentines Day

Record fair odyssey complete. A lot of stuff I expected (Cabaret Voltaire, Blow Monkeys) and a fair bit I didn’t (Force Inc? Drexciya!?)

Off to Warrington for a record fair today.

Really liking Don Gilet in Death in Paradise. Feel like they hit the balance between him a top detective, and a bit of a nightmare to everyone. The commissioner’s reaction to the fan incident was priceless

Didn’t expect to find this guy in Smyths this afternoon, but I’m very happy I did!

This @niminightmare.bsky.social stream where she plays a dodgy copy of Deal or No Deal for the Wii is the stuff creepypastas/avant garde electronic music CDs are made of

Nice aside from IF Liokaiser - with a bit of creative parts combination you can give his ‘ultimate weapon’ scythe thingy to Legacy Dinoking, for substantially more edginess.

Iron Factory Liokaiser is complete with Guyhawk’s arrival today. Utterly glorious stuff that will ruin my expectations for official figures for years to come.

Now I have the means to make better quality vinyl rips, I might get back into doing the odd mix. If it’s anything like my older ones, they may be a bit of an animal to define

That’ll do pig, that’ll do

Picked this up the other day, four years later than I meant to, and it is indeed bloody great

After some early troubles, buzz-related paranoia and other stuff, the Planar 1 is back on my desk and sounding utterly gorgeous. Finally invested in some speaker stands too!

Tonight’s slightly delayed listening

It appears my Rega has gone funky. Again. First the motor, now the grounding. I am not a happy man.

Very successful record shop in Liverpool today. Some mad deals at Rough Trade (75% off!) and finally own a copy of Pelican West by Haircut 100 on CD. Happy days

Amad Diallo. A man we all owe a cold one

Ah blimey, very sad news about David Lynch. What an absolutely unreal body of work

Clearly some force in the universe loves me, because they’re making more Xabungle high grade kits. Surprised it’s not the Walker Galia though! figsoku.net/blog-entry-4...

Tragically, my new Rega is off to the shop tomorrow over a rather prominent motor noise. Until then, the Sony is back on the desk doing a solid job (it’s running into the Rega Fono, so that might be why!)

Picked this up for a tenner the other day, and was rather gobsmacked to find the cheapest copy on discogs was £100. So far it’s rather good! ‘Badlands’ by Music for Pleasure if anyone’s curious
