Meanwhile, the salary cap is just the surface of the NHL’s problems. They really hate having personalities drive the game despite that being a massive driver for other leagues, they are extremely slow to adapting the game to the modern era, and finding where you can watch is a serious challenge.

Since we’re doing NHL CBA discourse I’ll say this much: the hard salary cap served its purpose. It stabilized an economically unstable league. It’s now outlived its purpose but the league is wildly uncreative and stubborn so they won’t try something new.

Preventable diseases, cavities, and high prices! All because uh…um….reasons!

Wow, so it really went down, huh?

One of the worst unintended, or given what we’ve learned the last few years intended, consequences of social media is that a lot of people have convinced themselves that news outlets should tell them what they want to hear, not what is true. Are there bad actors and mistakes? Absolutely.

I try not to let social media comments affect my mood, but man, the amount of people in one local…let’s say personality…cheering on restaurant workers getting rounded up by ICE really takes me to a dark place.

I imagine the Pens were in on Peterka, but I also think with this rebuild basically just starting, they’ll likely miss on a couple young NHL players right now. Essentially, if I had to guess, Dubas thinks they don’t yet have enough young prospects to trade away. Peterka would be an add but…

the Pittsburgh Pirates continuing to play dreadful baseball despite the owner’s insistence that he’s trying to build a competitive team, or as I like to call it, “Nutting but they’re still sucking”

Anyway, I know I’m likely beating a dead horse re: SDP the way they do with Dubas, and sure some of it is that he’s now my team’s GM, but guys, the same problem happened to the Leafs that’s happened since 2019. Your stars disappeared in the biggest games. You can’t coach of GM your way out of that

Three of your four best players needed to be put on milk cartons in the biggest moments. Under three coaches and three GMs. Problem solved.

“I’m so over my ex. Do they still talk about me? What did they say? I’m over it by the way. Have you seen them lately? What were they doing? Did they mention me? Have I said I’m over them?”

$20? I wanted a peanut!

Always on the hunt.

Some people are into politics because they care about how policy impacts people. They like winning elections, and build coalitions to do so. Other people are into politics as aesthetics, because their stances make them feel edgy and superior. They like losing and complaining, and shun coalitions.

If Donald Trump was one of your friends, you’d tell him to stop whining all the time. Seriously, all that dude ever does is complain how everyone is unfair to him.

TWO PICKS: The Penguins will likely have back-to-back picks in the first round, so @hunterhodies.bsky.social and I explore some options for 11th and 12th overall. Tap into a new Locked On Penguins here: linktr.ee/synonymforwet

Sure glad coconut lady didn't girlboss slay queen us into this.

We get angry, rightfully, about the “Kamala is for they/them” ads but it was the tip of the iceberg of shit that the RW media machine, podcast bros, and Facebook slop churned out. Her position was to treat people equally but it got spun into “transgender immigrants are coming to kill you.”

I mean, this is all well and good, but how exactly does that work when there are several, 24/7 old and new media apparatuses that will just straight up ignore that or make up things out of whole cloth? This idea exists in a perfect world. We do not live in that world.

Jim Rutherford, ladies and gentlemen!

Another scorcher!

Dems on the horrible trans athlete bill House Yes 2 No 202 Senate Yes 0 No 47 Dem filibuster killed to bill The Nat’l Dem party wasn’t involved in the NYC mayoral election I don’t even know what the racism bit is supposed to mean This is a bunch of anti-Dem Party bullshit

The important thing about this municipal primary election is that it validates every one of my priors about national politics

The fucking AG of the state was backing Mamdani and Lander! The idea that "the establishment" was uniformly against Mamdani--either at a state/local level or nationally--is patently false. Just be specific and say "a pro-Cuomo faction tried to derail the progress of the party" which is true!

“The Democratic establishment”
