More than 1,000 Syrians died in detention at a military airport on the outskirts of Damascus, killed by execution, torture or maltreatment, according to a report by Syria Justice and Accountability Centre.

New Home Office stats show that the number of cases waiting for an initial asylum decision fell from 97,170 (133,409 people) at the end of Sep 2024 to 90,686 (124,802) at the end of December. Still slightly higher than at the end of June (85,839 and 118,882), but going in the right direction.
