I am learning to make less statements and ask more questions.

I ask questions so that I can think more freely and critically, but I’m often met with “Think this way or you’re wrong.” That’s not critical thinking - that propaganda and manipulation. Nothing can be achieved that way.

I am not absolute on anything I think I know. I’m asking questions to see what other perspectives and information is out. Even that is met with hostility. Literally being told that “asking questions is wrong”. How do we learn, then??

I’m beginning to see that a lot of people prefer an echo chamber over truth. Many do not even want to consider new information, especially if it’s contradictory to what they’ve come to believe. This is true on both sides. Any attempt to offer other possibilities is met with instant hostility.
