The most boring person on the face of the planet. Aspiring potter. Likes cheese. Collector of things - mainly Fiesta, McCoy and Haeger pottery, vintage/antique clocks, midcentury lamps, and shiny things.

It saddens me to find out that so many places that we've shopped at for years are feeding the negative forces in this country. I'd say we've cut out spending $ at 75% of those places. No one can do it perfectly - just do what you can. Even small efforts taken collectively will make a difference.

I have an almost identical stack of them myself. ๐Ÿ˜Š

You can switch your feed from Discover to one of the many pottery, ceramics, or art feeds available. I have to do that when it gets to be too much, or whenever my anxiety meds wear off.

Damn. That was my escape plan.

Lamps are something that I want to try making once I get (a lot) further into my pottery journey. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Your lamps are gorgeous!

I love those! How beautiful!

Haha, cool! I'd like to see it. I have some teapots around the place that I might post pictures of at some point.

Have fun! I hope you find some good stuff! ๐Ÿ˜Š Maybe instead of good luck I should say break a... teapot? LOL

@aquavirago.bsky.social I just found the pics I took at the store, and the Tangerine bulbs were $1.98 each, not $3.98 each! #Fiesta #Fiestaware #Tangerine #candleholders #thriftstore #Goodwill

Yes, there was another company that produced something similar, but the name escapes me.

I had a similar reaction when I found a pair of Fiesta bulb candle holders in Tangerine at Goodwill for $3.98 each. I had to wait impatiently for someone to move their cart out of the way so I could grab them off the shelf. ๐Ÿ˜€

I made sure I kept a tight hold on it through the store, through the checkout, and until it was wrapped up and safe in the back of my car. No one was getting their hands on it except me! LOL

I think it's the 2 pint jug, or sometimes called the milk jug. I didn't have one either. It was quite a surprise to see it just sitting there in pristine condition!

Haha, I didn't even notice that!

Thank you! I had a blast! ๐Ÿ˜Š

It also has the original price sticker from JCPenney on the bottom, so it must have been a production glaze.

That's exactly what I thought when I found it. I checked the Haeger glaze album over on that "other" site but didn't see this particular one.

They look like magnolia seed pods.

This is my first wheel! I was very excited to find it and a vintage L&L kiln on "that other site's" marketplace for an incredible price. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I've heard that they aren't able to produce a hot pink due to the high vitrification temps used. Flamingo was pretty bright, but more of a bubblegum color.

Vintage Cobalt does have a slight greenish undertone to me. It's frustrating that they've been releasing similar colors over the past few years. What's really irritating is that last year they retired THREE vibrant colors - Mulberry, Lemongrass, and Butterscotch - and then gave us boring Linen.

It's so hard to tell without having pieces in each color to compare to each other. Different types of lighting change the colors, cameras pick up the colors differently, etc. To me, the pic from Fiesta comparing colors shows Twilight lighter than it appears in person.

Here's a pic for reference: blog.fiestafactorydirect.com/wp-content/u...

Twilight is one of those colors that can change quite a bit depending on lighting. I was going to take a pic of a Twilight disc pitcher next to a vintage Cobalt juice glass, but the camera showed them as almost identical. In person the vintage Cobalt looks a bit lighter.

Twilight has a purple undertone to it. It could be mistaken for Cobalt if there isn't another piece to compare it to. There's a lot of variation in the glazes too that further complicates things. The one that gets me is Rose and Peony. They are so close in color that I've had to label the bottoms.

It's been compared to vintage Ivory. It's quite a bit different than P-86 Ivory, which is more yellowish. They seem to be re-releasing versions of the original 1930's colors lately.

Thanks! I was excited to find it on Craiglist. The seller didn't have a picture in the ad, so I had to request one. (I think that's the only reason I was able to snag it before someone else did.)

They are my favorite pieces, even if they're not all that practical. I do use them when I tablescape the dining room table. The rest of the time they sit in display cabinets. Now I have to find room to fit in the new Linen ones. The color is kinda blah but refer to my earlier "completist" comment. ๐Ÿ˜Š
comment in response to post
I tend to be a "completist" when it comes to collecting Fiesta. For example, I have every color of post-1986 pyramid candle holder pairs (except for the unobtanium ones.) The prices have skyrocketed over the past couple of years though. If they go up again next year, that may be the final straw.

I feel your pain. I overindulged in collecting Fiesta, and we've surpassed the critical mass stage. Right now I'm trying to find the space to store it all in such a way that I can find the pieces that I want, when I want them. I may have to resort to adding a Fiesta Wing onto the house, lol.

That is my fear about trying to list things for sale. Stuff tends to get absorbed into the collective. I will "rediscover" things that I bought at Goodwill a couple of months after I purchased them (sometimes still in the bag they came home in.)
comment in response to post
The same type of logic applies to my desk. If I leave it a mess, I can usually find what I need within a minute or two. If I decide to organize it, afterwards I can never find anything. Ever again. lol

LOL, that is how the system works. I can hold onto an object for 20 years, knowing that one day I will need it. Two weeks after I dispose of said object, the need finally arises. ๐Ÿ˜†
