it's unfortunate that for various reasons Polaris Game Design Retreat can only be attended by ~30 people every year, but it's EXTREMELY fortunate that those people tend to write up their findings and learnings, and give it away FOR FREE, check it out: polarisgamedesign.com/reports/

New Post - Muse: Before You Tweet Hello! Microsoft's new Muse system isn't trying to generate game ideas. If you want a concise summary of what the paper tries to do, and a few notes and criticisms about the project, I wrote something about it. www.possibilityspace.org/blog-before-...

Your outie always leaves a positive review when they like a game.

Despite everything, I’m going to be at GDC talking about building responsive narrative systems in systems-heavy games. And I’d love to chat with people making these kinds of games who are interested in what dynamic narrative could do for them — let’s make some time to talk!

prediction: Balatro shows Normal Gamers can enjoy nerdy synergy-building gameplay in the right context & aesthetic. cheap to reverse-engineer, good long tail. of the many fast follows, some will be good and different enough to have similar success. but then... (thread)
