Hardly anybode expected Konamis Silent Hill to shape the whole sector of horror-games the way it did when it was released 26 years ago. Early previews described it as a weak Resident Evil-clone. It´s a pity that it's still stuck on PSone! I´m glad I bought the uncut US-release back then!

After reading @kimimi.bsky.social's article, I had to try Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog and I´m absolutely happy I did! Great atmosphere, fun characters (some of which you love to hate) and fantastic aesthetics really convinced me! Great game, don´t miss it!

Again: Yes.

YES!

These were probably the last winter-burgers of the year. Topped with chestnuts, creme cheese, a slice of apple, onions with maple syrup and more, these are a real treat in the cold days. I think @langepon.bsky.social, @mrbensonmum.bsky.social and @dark1x.bsky.social would agree!

Trying out the Sonic Racing Cross Worlds Closed Test... Daria: "Look, there's four Shadows on the track!" Thomas: "Yeah, they call that foreshadowing." [muffled sounds of Daria-violence]

Saturday means it's time for a random game from my collection, and... Suikoden! I SO waited for this game back in 1996, was flabbergasted when it arrived and I saw the US cover and then loved every second of the game itself. One of my all-time favorites.

Scheißt der Bär in'n Wald?

Yay, physical Arzette is coming to Europe!

It´s a travesty that Romance Games are still looked down upon or at least treated as some sort of low-tier games... So take you time today and learn a bit more of the quality and influence of these games!!

The Legend of Zelda is turning 39 today: The japanese Famicom Disk game was released on February 21. 1986 and... this game cast a long, looong shadow. And even more important: Exploring Hyrule, finding items and fighting Ganon is still a lot of fun today! I finished it again on 3DS a few years ago.

We should order those in bulk.

The job market has never been better for shills, stooges, and toadies of all stripes. Linkedin absolutely buzzing if you're a sycophant, a flunky, or even an unctuous little worm

Playing the Open Beta of #FatalFury: City of the Wolves today. This looks really good and feels chunky and powerful. Preecha is a pretty fun character to play as, too. Not sure about the amount of juggling happening though.

8 years ago, on this day, I got my Switch-Console and a copy of Breath of the Wild to work on reviews of both. I was pretty excited about the new system but still not sure, if Zelda was a fitting launch game and if the Switch could help Nintendo recover from the Wii U... haha. Oh well...

Wow, Ys Origin on Switch is dirt-cheap right now: You can get a fantastic Action-RPG (focus on action) with an absolute banger-soundtrack for just €5,99. You really should NOT miss out on that! www.nintendo.com/de-de/Spiele...

Blast from the past: In 2023, @dark1x.bsky.social and I visited @yuzokoshiro.bsky.social and Makoto Wada in their office and talked about Earthion. At the time, we were shown the game. At TGS 2024, we also could play it - and this year it will release - and man, am I excited for this game!!

Without much fanfare, Edia dropped Cosmic Fantasy Collection 2 on Switch eShop - full english version of the third episode and both parts of the fourth game in the previously mostly unlocalized PC-Engine-RPG series. It´s peak early-90s anime with huge, colorful hair and a little touch of fanservice.

If you're at a bit of a loose end this weekend, why not click this way and enjoy a random feature on my site? I've written almost 600 articles covering games on 42 different formats, so I'm sure you'll find something you'll like! kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com?random

Kann man halt auch anders sagen. Zum Beispiel "Drecks-Nazi", "Elender Nazi" oder "Verfickter Nazi". Wäre ebenso korrekt.

We're stoked to introduce the 'No Gen AI' seal for indie games! Indie devs can use it on their game's store page to assure potential players that their game was made without the use of Generative AI. You can grab it from the Polygon Treehouse website:- www.polygon-treehouse.com/no-gen-ai-seal

Yesterday was also the first time I played Daytone USA again after meeting the absolutely fantastic Takenobu Mitsuyoshi last year in Tokyo and getting a short but oh-so-awesome live-performance. And I gotta tell you, this already brilliant game even hits a bit harder after that! An all-time great!

I took about 50 Animation&Game-students to @flipperundarcade.de in Seligenstadt - and it was amazing. Pretty much all of these games are older than the students and many tried out pretty much everything. Daytona USA was (unsurprisingly) incredibly popular, as well as the pinball-machines.

Man, I was SO close to 1cc-ing Golden Axe on a real cabinet... Next time for sure!

After seeing comments about RGB being "unauthentic" because "nobody used that"... Well, these are some of my old RGB-cords for Mega Drive, NeoGeo, even Xbox 360! So yes. The US-experience is anything but representative for the rest of the world.

It's saturday, so it's time for another game from my collection. How about Hana Tāka Daka!? for PC-Engine? A fun, colorful shooter from Taito. In frankensteined this copy together from an empty box with manual I bought for 5€ at a German retro-fair and a loose card I bought for... more in Ikebukuro.

Oh heavens above... Hey, UK person here. RGB SCART cables were always extremely common. You just bought them from a regular shop and plugged them into the TV. It wasn't a specialist hardcore ultra gamer thing, it was a bit of wire that made your Amiga/MD/SNES/PS1, etc. look great on the telly.

Another month is over and the new issue of M! Games is in stores. If you're interested: I reviewed the amazing Famicom/NES-shooter Changeable Guardian Estique, using the old layout from 1994. I also checked out various RPGs. And I took a closer look at the...
