This reminds me of an interview Sting gave a while back where he said people would come up to him and tell him they played “Every Breath You Take” at their wedding and he would go “oh, oh nonono.” The lack of critical thinking has been with us for a looong time

I’m not on TikTok but I feel the same way about Twitter back in the day. It was like having access to a giant library or speakers’ forum where I could learn the most obscure facts from experts and hobbyists. It feels like a lot of it is being replaced by soulless AI

I was teaching HS in 2017 when scaramucci was hired and fired and I tried to explain to my students how abnormal this all was and I got blank stares. This is all they know. And he wouldn’t even be fired today because it’s actually gotten worse since then.
