IF you're lucky enough to own a home in Australia, which for people in my age group and younger is becoming less and less likely, now we need to worry about insurance prices - or if the house is insurable at all. The climate crisis is already happening.

This is a dark day for Australia’s environment and our democracy. Last night’s passing of amendments to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act weakens the protection of our natural treasures, rammed through by a govt which promised greater protection.

Ahead of next week, remember budgets are all about choices. Right now the govt is choosing to have people on HECS/HELP pay 4 times more than gas companies do on PRRT. @jack-thrower.bsky.social has the numbers #OffTheCharts australiainstitute.org.au/post/in-2023...

Are you struggling to pay your bills? Because the gas industry isn’t. If you've paid ANY tax, you've paid more tax than the gas export industry has EVER paid in resources tax. How is that fair? #auspol Add your name to the petition to make big gas pay their fair share: theaus.in/increasePRRT

Ocean heatwave likely killed 30,000 fish off Western Australia coast, government says

In November, AMCS & Dhimurru reps joined nations in Busan for the 5th Global Plastics Treaty talks. Progress was stalled by a few nations protecting industries like the fossil fuel sector, but global momentum to end plastic pollution is strong. More👇 www.marineconservation.org.au/whats-happen...

This #invasionday should be a time for reflection, listening and learning. Honestly, what do we have to lose?

As 26 January approaches, let’s take the opportunity to learn from one another, respect varied experiences, and broaden our understanding of the date’s significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

There is a David Lynch sized hole in this world

David Lynch's passing calls me to recall "The Perfect Drug," written for Lynch's Lost Highway, a personal NIN fave, though I'd not ever seen the video for it, it's amazing in a real "More goth, no, more goth than that, what part of 'more goth' do you not understand" sort of way youtu.be/dn3j6-yQKWQ

Tracing the Triple J’s approach to social issues is a way to trace the priorities of many young people in Australia.

“To know what is happening to the climate, the answer is in the ocean.” The ocean is the hottest it has ever been recorded by humans, not only at the surface but up to two kilometres deep, according to a new study. news.stthomas.edu/professor-re...
