I wouldn't have gone to college without the support of Pell grants. I wouldn't have ended up in grad school or with a PhD or anything I'm currently doing in my life. Pell grants are so so so important for students who qualify for them.

Scientists race against time in Kentucky, collecting flood data amid funding cuts. The stakes? The future of southern Appalachia. Trump’s budget guts FEMA, NSF & NWS—crippling agencies meant to forecast floods & save lives. Scientists scramble as federal support vanishes. zurl.co/HdX01

Heads up! APA is urging anyone who cares about health and science to let their reps/senators know now that they should oppose the admin's murder budget. Easy to do here: www.votervoice.net/Shares/BAAAA... APA is plugged in. If they say NOW, listen! #StandUpForScience

In his latest @bostonglobe.com opinion, Dean @ashishkjha.bsky.social reacts to HHS cancelling Moderna’s bird flu vaccine contract—a decision he calls RFK Jr.'s "most dangerous yet." www.bostonglobe.com/2025/06/03/o...

Eating disorders are among the deadliest mental health conditions & they often become chronic. Yet Trump’s HHS is cutting eating disorder research & the MAHA report doesn’t mention them. This isn’t just suppressing science - it’s a decision that will cost lives. www.statnews.com/2025/06/03/e...

My home of Missoula just voted to establish the pride flag as an official government flag of the city, thereby circumventing the state's asinine pride flag ban. 🏳️‍🌈 Missoula is once again showing how to fight back against policies that seek to erase the LGBTQ community.

In the spirit of continued excitement and passion for sharing more on fat justice and anti fat bias efforts in the eating disorder space - so excited that our clinical roundtable on this was accepted at @abctnow.bsky.social #ABCT2025 this year! @connorelbe.bsky.social @drtiffanyabrown.bsky.social

I'm excited to teach two courses this summer through SMaRT workshops! Come join us 🤩 1. Machine Learning (July 14-17) w/ Jeff Girard: smart-workshops.com/ml-info 2. Assessing Suicidal and Nonsuicidal Self-Injury (August 21) w/ @kathrynfox.bsky.social: smart-workshops.com/sitb-info

Excited to head to New Orleans in November for ABCT 2025! 🤩

Congratulations are in order for our rising third-year graduate student Avantika Kapadia! Avantika's poster, "Negative Moral Emotions in Eating, Obsessive-Compulsive and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms," won "Best in Show" at the International Conference on Eating Disorders! Wow! So proud!

📸 snapshots from #ICED2025! So proud of this team!! @ethandennis.bsky.social @laurenharris.bsky.social @hoff-phd.bsky.social @allisongrady.bsky.social

Saving the best for last! Come swing by during the last session of #ICED2025 today where I will be sharing the findings from my thesis project about risk and protective factors for adolescent’s engagement in disordered eating.

The EAT Lab is at #ICED2025! Want to catch up with us? Check out the schedule of events below. We look forward to connecting with you!

ummmmm...fake sources, mischaracterization of findings, made up research studies doesn't sound like "Gold Standard Science" to us. But what do we know? We are just a lowly, grassroots community of the world's leading scientists. 🐸☕ #foolsgoldscience #standupforsciece www.notus.org/health-scien...

🚨ATTENTION MOMS🚨 Friday, May 30th at 3pm Meet me outside of the CDC with your pregnant bellies, your babies, your toddlers, your strollers, your signs, and your baby gear. We are standing up for science and vaccines! @standupforscience.bsky.social RSVP: actionnetwork.org/events/moms-...

Looking forward to learning and catching up with folks at #ICED2025 in San Antonio! 🤠Here is our lab presentation schedule. Thanks for the graphic @taylorepenwell.bsky.social !

Do not listen to RFK Jr. on covid vaccines for pregnant people. Listen to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which STRONGLY recommends a covid vaccine during pregnancy, for the health of the pregnant person and the fetus. 🧪 www.acog.org/covid-19/cov...

RFK Jr. is now taking COVID19 vaccines away from people who are pregnant. Infection during pregnancy increases the risk severe disease and potentially preterm birth. The CDC itself lists pregnancy as a condition that puts people at risk for severe disease. The science doesn’t support this.

Dear science journalism, Please start including the funding source and whether it has been imperiled by the coup in your coverage of cool new science papers. The public should know the floor is being cut out from under us.

Congratulations to the 2025 Psi Chi-APS Albert Bandura Graduate Research Award recipient! @claireecusack.bsky.social #APS25DC

Come check out my poster from 7:30-8:30 PM today at #APS2025DC!

' FDA plans on restricting COVID vaccine eligibility. I'll be drafting a comment for FDA's regulatory docket, and while I'm doing that work, I'll be in the zoom link at the top of this post in order to offer support to folks writing comments this afternoon. '

Are YOU sitting around, reading the headlines, feeling powerless and scared? Wish there was a way to just DO SOMETHING???? Boy, have I got the thing for you! @standupforscience.bsky.social has an ambitious goal of hosting 1000 teach-ins across the nation between now and 9/30 #standupforscience

Raise your hand if you want a Covid-19 booster! 🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚🤚

Please make a comment on this NOW (they are due tomorrow). We can't let NIH and NSF POs and division directors become political appointees--this will completely destroy science.

Last night, we were one of the first outlets to report the ADULT ban on gender affirming care for Medicaid recipients who depend on it to access it. This morning, that bill passed 215-214-1. It now goes to the senate. It's a bleak day for transgender Americans.

@doctorpipes.bsky.social has a new first author publication out with @ivanzhula.bsky.social and @cherilev.bsky.social, and we're excited to share a a summary! See the #thread 🧵 below... Link to text: authors.elsevier.com/c/1l3KiKt2qD... (1/10)

The next session for our webinar series is just around the corner! Join us virtually on Thursday, May 22 to talk about how medications like Ozempic can affect ED's, and how to talk about them. Email [email protected] to sign up!

🚨 A new rule would let career scientists like NSF/NIH program officers be replaced by political appointees Already 14,000+ public comments, deadline is Friday 📣 Comments can be short. Courts consider them—and scientists with NSF/NIH experience are especially impactful Speak up! shorturl.at/WKuBj

@kefancathywu.bsky.social and @claireecusack.bsky.social are representing the EAT Lab at #APS2025! Make sure to stop by and say "hi" on Thursday and Saturday!

Watch out, y’all. We may be the closest thing the CDC has to a Comms team right now. 🙀 Have some good work you want to highlight? Know something that needs to get out? Contact us on Signal at altcdc.99 www.npr.org/2025/05/21/n...

I’m excited to attend #ICED2025 next week! This is my first time attending and I’m so excited to see what amazing research the ED field is doing! I’d love to see what other people are presenting next week! Reply below with what your presenting and when so others can add it to their schedule ⬇️

Behind every cure, every breakthrough, every treatment — is someone who needed it. If NIH funding helped you, your research, or someone you love, your story can help protect it. Share your “why” and help defend the future of NIH & science. Fill out the form here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

APS and psychological scientists from seven states (AZ, GA, MA, PA, TN, TX, VA) are headed to the Capitol this morning to advocate for #NSF and #NIH funding. #PsychologicalScience #HillDay

Baldwin to RFK Jr: "Is funding for Alzheimer's research centers DEI? Because you're holding up $65m for 14 of those centers in 9 states, including UW Madison. Is funding for cancer centers DEI? Because you're holding up $47m in cancer center support grants at 9 cancer centers in 8 states."

Here's @shrutikinkelram.bsky.social's dissertation study! doi.org/10.1016/j.ap.... Exposure to weight stigma was related to less caloric consumption. Regardless of condition, lower levels of body trust & gastric interoception were related to higher intentions for binge eating as well as restriction.

New op-ed out in the Albuquerque Journal. I share about the importance of federal substance use and addiction funding for families like mine. www.abqjournal.com/opinion/arti... and in case you hit a paywall: unmm-my.sharepoint.com/:b:/g/person...

🚨🚨 Alarming NSF policy update By accepting an NSF award, an institution now must say it's: 1. Not engaging in boycotts of Israel (yes really) 2. Not advancing or promoting DEI in violation of anti-discrimination laws Announced via a footnote today: nsf-gov-resources.nsf.gov/files/gc1-ma...

"You should stand up for the humanities, too!!!" No, *YOU* should stand up for the humanities! I picked science. Here is a link for how to start you own non-profit to support the humanities: opgs.dc.gov/sites/defaul...

This is an incredible initiative! Does anyone in the Pittsburgh area want to work on this with me?

Does anyone know approximately how many scientists the US federal government funds per year (across all agencies, including people supported by grants and fed workers)? Or where I could find this information?

🚨URGENT RESPONSE CALL🚨 🌪️23 LIVES WERE LOST OVERNIGHT AS TORNADOS HIT KY. KY has one of several regions in the US without 24/7 National Weather Service coverage, due to DOGE cuts. W/out overnight monitoring, ppl don't receive weather warnings. THIS is how science cuts cost lives. shorturl.at/JgTjU
