Removing useful COVID information and redirecting to pseudoscientific propaganda. Another step in our decent into fascism. White House puts up 'Lab Leak’ page on COVID origins : Shots - Health News www.npr.org/sections/sho...

The NIH plans to resume posting notices of new solicitations for grant proposals. But there’s a catch: The HHS and DOGE will review each draft notice to ensure the research that will be funded aligns with the priorities of President Trump’s administration, Science has learned. scim.ag/3DJsafL

"The country has invested in, and innovated through, this scientific public service for over a century, not for selling it to the highest bidder, but for the common good. Dismantling NOAA and the National Weather Service is a presidential grift that we must oppose."

Last Friday, 1,000 more NIH biomedical research projects were defunded with no notice Here’s a word cloud of canceled grants, based on their titles

I received a very favorable review on a new grant to develop an influenza vaccine delivered by nasal spray. That was back in November. Normally, NIH would have made a funding decision in January. Since most meetings at NIH were cancelled, I haven't heard a word.

Today, a cancer vaccine clinical trial I was working on in collaboration with the National Cancer institute was cancelled. Why? The investigator in charge of the trial at the NCI was fired.

A recent study found that cervical cancer deaths in young women have plummeted since the introduction of the human papillomavirus vaccine.

We kick off with @aniloza.bsky.social, who joins us to discuss today’s Stand Up For Science rallies and what he's heard from organizers and attendees. Plus, a scientist and a student share why they're fired up to attend local rallies.

Most of the fellows in CDC’s highly competitive Laboratory Leadership Service were fired last weekend. The ultracompetitive, 2-year program, which trains Ph.D. scientists in the intricacies of public health laboratory work. scim.ag/4gPy0te

Vaccines work! As measles cases have recently been reported in Alaska, Georgia, New York, Rhode Island and Texas, it's important to remember that prior to the introduction of the measles vaccine in 1963, measles killed 400-500 people and resulted in ~48,000 hospitalizations per year.

Sen. Ted Cruz’s list of 'woke' science includes self-driving cars, solar eclipses www.npr.org/2025/02/13/n... Makes me think of the church imprisoning Galeleo for having the audacity to suggest that the Earth orbits around the sun

"These [NIH indirect cost reimbursement] cuts should be a rallying cry for higher education to come together to make the case for the American system of research and teaching,” writes @holdenthorp.bsky.social in a new #ScienceEditorial. scim.ag/4b2nv4D

At this point I genuinely don't think it's hyperbole to say that Elon Musk is functionally in charge of the US government. Perhaps not in specific policy areas - two bills or one on the hill, policy in the mideast. But certainly functional control of the state apparatus.

Hello, please pay attention: A Nevada dairy worker has contracted the deadly D1.1 strain of bird flu, seen in a British Columbia teen who recovered and a Louisiana victim who died. This mutated strain spreads rapidly among mammals, including cattle, and is moving faster than others.

It's like 'dead birds flying': How bird flu is spreading in the wild : Goats and Soda www.npr.org/sections/goa... If you want to see what the next pandemic might look like, read this.

Dairy cattle in Nevada have been infected with a new strain of bird flu : Shots - Health News www.npr.org/sections/sho... The current H5N1 seems to produce mild disease in humans. This new variant is much more deadly in humans. We need to pay attention to this!!!

We should all be worried about H5N1. It's not only killing birds, but it's widespread in cattle too. The real danger is when it begins to show human -human transmission. Do you trust RFK Jr to deal with this threat? www.cdc.gov/bird-flu/sit...

Remember Ebola? We'll guess what, it isn't going away. The US had a collective freak -out when only a few Ebola infected health care workers were brought back to the USA to save their lives. USAID plays a key role in curbing the spread. www.cbsnews.com/news/some-u-...

The funding freeze is having a chilling effect on NIH sponsored biomedical research at universities across the country. Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers and faculty have had their funding halted. This will shut down crucial research across the country.

I tried to access the MMWR data today for my infuenza vaccine research. This is critical information to monitor flu cases state by state and Trump shut it down. www.cdc.gov/mmwr/index.h...

Keep up the pressure to block the confirmation of RFK Jr. Misinformation and vaccine hesitancy hurts us all.

I'll start by encouraging everyone to educate themselves about the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). Anti-vaxers love to misrepresent VAERS to falsely claim vaccines are unsafe. If you arm yourself with the VARES Fact sheet you will have a powerful counter. Google it .

New member here. My primary goal is to fight back on the anti-science movement within the Republican party. I hope to provide a resource for combating misinformation on vaccines and the immune system.
