Twelve Winters Journal publishes narratives, including narrative poems -- like this newly published piece by Dan Guillory. twelvewinters.com/guillory-poe... #readingcommunity #poetrycommunity

I've long been interested in revisionist fiction. In Episode 13, we discuss an especially excellent example of the technique. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #readingcommunity #podcast

In Episode 19, we have a lively conversation about artificial intelligence, creative writing, and ethical considerations. (We don't completely agree with one another.) Where do you stand? twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #podcast #publishing #AI

I was especially enamored of this hybrid text from Episode 15 that was published in the Berlin-based SAND journal. Any writer interested in pushing narrative boundaries can learn a thing or two from the author. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #literaturelover #podcast

We must pick up a book -- a good book -- and learn to read again. Literary writers are the footsoldiers in the war on ignorance and misinformation. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #podcast #writingcommunity #publishing

My book discusses how #trauma -- both personal and cultural -- impacts literary production (as well as other art forms). Sadly, in our traumatized world, it remains a popular title. Three copies sold just this week. tedmorrissey.com/trauma-theor...

I was supposed to be in Louisville today delivering this paper at the literature conference -- but flu hit the Morrissey household and hit it hard. I share it with the world nevertheless. tedmorrissey.blog/.../writer-c...

Add The Slynx to the list of post-apocalyptic books that say a lot about this time we're living through. Especially in regards to all the despotic buffoonery.

Grant thinks this story may be his favorite among the 20 we've featured in our #podcast. (Brady and I were duly impressed too.) Mark Brazaitis's "Lost Cat" and a lot more in the latest episode. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #readingcommunity

No rest for the weary -- working on my paper for the Louisville Conference later this week. I'm cutting it waaaay closer than usual, but it's been a super busy time. #whg100

This issue and others. Check out the newly dropped episode of A Lesson before Writing. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #publishing #readingcommunity

My lecture "Popular Fiction - An Historical Perspective" is available online, including photos from the event in Islamabad. My sincere appreciation to the event organizers, including Dr. Amina Ghazanfar (far right) who coordinated my involvement. tedmorrissey.blog/.../popular-...

I really enjoyed speaking with students and faculty about "Popular Fiction - An Historical Perspective," an event hosted by the English Dept. at National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, and arranged by Dr. Amina Ghazanfar.

Preparing to connect with friends and colleagues in Islamabad to talk about popular fiction.

I'm honored to join my friends and colleagues in Islamabad for another lecture -- this one on popular fiction. Thank you to Dr. Amina Ghazanfar for arranging the opportunity.

Congratulations to Twelve Winters author and podcast co-host Grant Tracey, whose new Hayden Fuller story, "A Borsalino Kill," has been published in Merry Creepsmas (Wicked Shadow Press). Watch for Grant's new Hayden novel soon!

In his war of words with Unferth, Beowulf reveals that he has more respect for Grendel than for the Danes the monster has been humiliating for a dozen years. The visiting Geat feels at liberty to humiliate them too. #beowulf

La Piccioletta Barca just published my translation of a poem by Borges

I feel a bit like Nero fiddling, but for the last few weeks I've been hard at work on a new sonnet sequence, written in apostrophe to Mary Shelley. It's been a pleasant place to take my brain for a couple of hours a day.

We're now accepting submissions for our next Open Issue There's no theme, so please send us your best stories, essays, and poems. We're excited to read what you've been working on! Submit by March 15 at ironhorse.submittable.com

Many congrats to MFA alum Gina Keating, whose book RAVEN 23, about four US military veterans accused of a massacre that never happened and the efforts to free them, will be published by Harper Collins in September of this year! We're so proud of you, Gina!

Beowulf's accusation of Unferth's fratricide is one of the most puzzling parts of the poem and it's because of the poet's phrase "to banan wurde," basically you *became* the murderer [of your brothers]. Why "became"? Why not simply "you murdered"? It invites myriad interpretations.

Elon Musk killed 14 young skaters, coaches, and family, among the other victims of the plane crash last night. Because he is a corrupt man angry that someone pointed out his corruption. He has his nephews cutting government. He needs to go.

It's gratifying that some kind words regarding Strophes (and, in this case, Crowsong too) continue to trickle in. I take pride in the fact my books resist easy classification, even though it makes finding readers for them that much more challenging. #readingcommunity

Who's ready for Halloween? Travel back in time (a few months) and enjoy creepy-themed Episode 16, which features a scary story by UK writer Jo Gatford. Plus some fun writerly chitchat. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #podcast

As a distraction from today's depressing headlines, I'll point out that Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice was published on this day in 1813.

Today, we feature one of our newest faculty members: Tom Cooper! Tom is the author of the novels Florida Man (Random House) and The Marauders (Broadway Books/Crown Publishing). His short stories have appeared in Mid-American Review, Gulf Coast, Boulevard, Smokelong Quarterly, and Oxford American.

New book. After ‘The Tunnel’, I just want to read anything by Gass that I can get my hands on… #BookSky💙📚

Each episode of our #podcast includes a featured story. For Episode 17 we discuss this entertaining -- and important! -- short story by a young writer who is already widely published and impressively accomplished. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #publishing

Geography is tricky in Beowulf - place names were likely idiosyncratic and fluid - plus the poet wasn't overly concerned with geographic accuracy. Thus translators have often identified locales to conform to their version of the narrative. #beowulf

Every episode of our #podcast features an analysis and discussion of a hot-off-the-presses short story. Monitor the pulse of contemporary #fiction with these fun and informative segments. twelvewinters.com/a-lesson-bef... #writingcommunity #literaryjournal
