Even if we say it was a Roman salute (which I do not believe it was). This act is now acting as a free pass for incredibly stupid and impressionable people to replicate the gesture - KNOWING what it looks like and deliberately creating an unsafe environment for people, especially minorities.

5 years ago, I was someone who "would never download tiktok!" Now, despite living in the UK, I am gutted by the ban in the US. It looks like it's going ahead (for now, smoke and mirrors). I do think the international reaction says more about our para-social relationships, and it should be studied.

So I previously started posting on Threads about finding "my thing" after 32 years trying to please everybody else. Meta is now becoming an unsafe platform for the left/LGBTQI+ community/women/AFABs. I'm hoping BlueSky will have a longer shelf life.
