So far down the rabbit hole, I’m at risk of growing floppy ears. Currently addicted to Thomas Lupton, but always dreaming of Measure - before, after, forever. Not an academic, life got in the way. Maybe I’ll find a way back, one day.

“I should really plan my reading list for next week”. May I present my procrastination efforts… Now, I wonder how small I can go with these! Case bound books in A5, A7 and A9…

Being someone who works 0730-2200 every day, I forget that other people have sensible hours. I’ve left my bookings for the SBT Reading Room next week until too late, and am now at the mercy of the wonderful staff to decide whether I can play on Monday (I did manage to book Tues & Weds though).

We never trod the meadows of the Isis or the Cam When they sent us out to work for a career. We didn’t ask for Cambridge, and we didn’t care to cram For an Oxford schol’ of eighty quid a year. But we did our Kant and Plato, Our Cicero and Cato Up in Arcady together in the springtime of the year.

I don’t think I could hand-trim edges if my life depended on it. Time to consider a plough. Printed, compiled, sketched, designed for a truffle hunting friend as a surprise. Obligatory Plutarch quote in English and Greek.

Canine aggression case studies finally submitted, and now time to indulge myself… 9 signatures folded and in the press for a fungi themed journal for a truffle hunting friend. I can strongly advise against pen and ink on vellum (modern, paper) - it takes hours to dry, and smudges at a glance!

Early modernist friends: before I end up down another rabbit hole, is there a quick and dirty guide to becoming a priest in the early CofE (1540s early)? Education level? Are we talking degree? Monastery school? (Tracing an individual about whom we know too little). Thank you for any article steer.

I really must start thinking of my weird questions earlier in the webinar, in the hope of having them discussed. A great evening with the erudite Greg Doran and @oldfortunatus.bsky.social discussing Macbeth for the New Oxford Shakespeare editions. (I always enjoy the stage and academic crossovers!)

Slowly defrosting after 30 hours without power, and a job where I’m outside for 14 hours a day. The hounds are happy now the heating is functioning again!

Now, would he have been of the same opinion had he had access to a decent editing suite?

I even made it home before the sun set. Counting down the days until my next escape to Stratford.

Final performance of Twelfth Night at the #RSC, and what a dream it was. There were tears of joy that could only be achieved after travelling through the depths of grief with this wonderful cast. And so goodnight, unto to all x

A wild ride of a morning watching Peter Brook’s 1970 MND. The visible role switching of O/T to T/H in view of the audience was beautiful. The whole thing is incredible. Watch it, don’t just read about it!

Back to Stratford next week to view Brook’s Dream, Alex Jennings in Peer Gynt, MfM, and his Hamlet. Followed by the current Twelfth Night (x3), Red Shoes (x2), and making time to research the non-existent Tate’s RJ. What a lovely way to spend a week off!

Great opening webinar tonight, courtesy of @oldfortunatus.bsky.social and Todd Borlik. One down, forty to go!

And done! Printed on the verso to leave me plenty of space for notes and commentary. Are there easier ways? Almost certainly. Do I choose to take them? Never! #AllforMoney #LuptonLibrary

When you’ve finished the initial editing, battled with the printer refusing to talk to the Mac, and now you have to bind the thing. Stage 1 of my personal Lupton Library…

Brush up your Shakespeare! Read along with our monthly webinar or just drop in to hear the conversation: english.web.ox.ac.uk/english-facu... Please repost!

All I want for Christmas is a printed copy of “Siuqila”, but it seems I might have to drag the printer into work to make this happen. Well… I’d also like copies of all three published versions of “Philanera”, but I’ll keep my dreams small for now. 1/3 is a start.

A flurry of activity today. Hotel bookings, theatre tickets galore, and trying to develop some kind of research structure for my next trip to Stratford. Plans will, of course, fall by the wayside and I will spend 3 days watching old recordings of MfM as usual.
