Adding to reading list... If only because it looks to confirm my priors 😂

Depressing.

Less education and lower skills is what makes America greater and safer... Right?

New York Times article now up on Federal Register stuff. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/s... 1/n

For 38 years, PRAMS has collected critical data on maternal-child health with the goal to reduce infant morbidity and mortality. CDC has officially halted the 2024 PRAMS data collection for the participating 46 states and the future is uncertain.

Can you do a valid and meaningful "mediation analysis" without a full-fledged DAG? I have my doubts. #statsky #episky

I was part of a similar DOD program that, as of now, still exists. These programs are critical to get the best, highly skilled graduates both into Civil Service and understand the critical work Government does. Those making cuts are ensuring American mediocrity, or worse, for decades.

Your goal in life should be to love anything as much as Roy Williams loves basketball (Athletic Dept literally told no one to drive to the game due to snow, so it's 90% students)

I don't care who you are. The thought of someone muttering "lucys, lucys, lucys..." on the street corner with some eggs in their pocket is both funny and dystopian.

when you randomize into treatment + control groups, the groups are the same IN EXPECTATION, not IN OBSERVATION. it's possible your groups will have different observed characteristics, it doesn't (always) mean "randomization didn't work"

Peak stupidity.

How about figuring out what the fuck people in government do *before* you fire them?

The wrecking ball is moving so fast that @science.org has its very own Trump Tracker to keep track of the damage done to scientists, research, and human health www.science.org/content/arti...

Friends, I have written you a book on forensic metascience. It is free. You can have it. Happy St. Valentine's Day. If you wish to give me a gift back, you can use it to cause trouble - the greatest gift of all. open.substack.com/pub/jamescla...

Doing the unthinkable: The deep cuts to the #CDC's workforce today are expected to decimate the Epidemic Intelligence Service, a program that has trained public health rapid responders for decades. Envy of the world. Poof! www.statnews.com/2025/02/14/t...

This is how I roll.

Real-World Impacts on Science where I Live.

Being an Exercise Scientist is painful Here's the Impact (29 news outlets & 157 citations!) of a "Gender Differences" paper by big-name researchers If you analyze it validly, it shows the opposite findings & effects TWO MAGNITUDES SMALLER than reported (i.e. a 'gender difference' of 10% is 0.1%)

I've seen Kendrick Lamar 3x live. Each by accident, at various concert festivals. Each time, I've been unimpressed. This Superbowl Halftime changed nothing. FWIW, I also saw Lifehouse 4x by accident and they're even worse.

North Carolina has the ONLY election from 2024 that does not have a declared winner. This despite multiple recounts all finding the same result: Allison Riggs should be the elected NC Supreme Court Justice by ~700 votes. It is time to Griffin to listen to the people. mobilize.us/s/V6a2HV/o

I look forward to ALL Federal contracts being a predesignated itemized cost, plus 15% overhead... Including all DOD contracts. That's the argument that should be made. Place the military industrial complex on your side. The soft "but what about paying our building depreciation!?" convinces no one.

#BREAKING - NIH plans to slash support for indirect research costs, sending shockwaves through science
