Grateful for my progressive faith community.

Say. This.

It is in Jesus that we have a savior whose living and dying and rising again life demands us - to rise ourselves and act - to advocate and speak up for the safety and dignity of all people. Easter Sermon UUMCATX

When the sound of Alleluias have faded, when the women have returned home with their spices and the disciples are back to fishing, the work of Easter begins: To sing the joy and be the light. To be the change and bend the arc. To live the promise- Christ is risen. Christ is risen indeed!

Every time I sat down to write my Easter sermon felt like a Good Friday sermon. Made a collage of some of my scribbled notes.

“The waiting of Silent Saturday is the triumph of injustice, alienation and violence - all without a word from God. You don’t have to pretend the wait isn’t agony. If it feels like God is silent, say so. Your doubts, your grief, are safe here.”- Cole Arthur Riley

Easter is this Sunday! This Week's Econnection is here to make sure you've got all the information on our upcoming services. (Which, you hopefully already have in your calendars....)

Things of beauty and purpose take time

Austin, Texas Hands Off Rally

In praise of progressive communities of faith, Timothy Snyder’s voice and the life-giving work of advocating.

😭😭🥰🥰💔💔 🇺🇸 I’ve loved him from the start.

Don’t get me started

In response to the Vice-President's recent remarks that Christianity teaches us to love family first and then neighbors and then fellow citizens of your country and only then others from other countries and how 'the far left has inverted this'. Uhm....this is my lane and that is incorrect.

International Womens Day. I give thanks for the friendships I’ve made on General Commission on the Status and Role of Women UMC. Received this gift made by political prisoners from The Philippines. All the feels-heartache and hope all bound up together.

I know it was a couple of days ago but I still have Ash Wednesday feels. Take in Maren Tirabassi's poignant words here: "...ashes of the great burnings in Gaza, in Ukraine, ashes of the work done by many dismissed from their jobs.."

Friday Note Feb 28, 2025 Black History Month is ending but the celebrating and remembering and learning is for the whole year long

Thrilled to hear Cole Arthur Riley tonight. “To be human in an aching world is to know our dignity and become people who safeguard the dignity of everything around us.” - CAR

Thank you Maren Tirabassi for these words. Praying with and for Ukraine 🇺🇦

Keeping the words of Jesus with me: “But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. “Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. “Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep.”

Earlier this week I told my husband Paul that I kinda’ feel like I did at the beginning of the pandemic. While these two seasons of troubling news events are quite different, I find similar emotions and sensations are lodged within me. teresawelborn.substack.com/p/friday-not...

Prayers. Many of the things I’m angry about. Many of the things I’m worried about.

Between all else and now Guantanomo and Gaza. Please keep those phone calls to senators and reps going as part of your resistance work. (Page below from Brené Brown; Atlas of the Heart.)

Cynthia Erivo and Herbie Hancock’s ‘Fly Me To the Moon’ is more fantastic than words can say. I’m listening to it over and over to spark some joy. Meanwhile I wouldn’t mind if some other people flew to Mars and stayed there. #Grammys #Erivo

Genres are code words to keep us in our place. #Grammys #Beyonce

Some worship planning and came across this from the Iona Community
