The anti-trans moral panic is out of control. Seriously cis people. Up your game. Get in their faces. Don’t defend us or try to get them to respect us. Ridicule them for being so deeply insecure over our existence.

It's not totally lost on me that SpaceX boosterism — "Elon says this" reporting, FAA and EPA holdups "blocking progress", prima facie accepting failures as an outcome of experimentation — was a significant contributor to the belief that DOGE would have been anything different than what it is.

The only acceptable royalty in this country are the amazing drag queens and kings who remind us of the social freedoms this country aspires to at its finest.

Between hostile state and Federal actions (ID validity concerns, federal bathroom bans, and an intensely anti-trans legislative session underway in TX), I decided travel to LPSC was too risky this year.

Hey all, if you have a moment, please use it to support non-binary/trans/intersex people by submitting a comment here on the X gender marker changes. Uncertainty around these rule changes, esp. coupled w/ possible capricious enforcement of ID validity, make it especially risky to travel.

The Sol 148 video has a neat view of what looks like a Fujiwara interaction between dust devils, where the air flow around one starts to steer the other, and vice versa. You see the first dust devil suddenly reverse course as the second catches up, then rotate around and merge with it.

To those saying "this avoids a major funding loss", the entire point of government interference like this is to drive home to the target population (in this case, trans people) that "everyone" finds them disposable if the incentive is right.

hello cis friends this is what people mean by trans genocide if a type of person does not officially exist, then any harm against them cannot be measured or reported this headline change isn't even being caused by an executive order it's simply the NYT editors deciding we don't deserve to exist

What kind of research do they consider "wasteful DEI"? Reading through the project descriptions (column N) and it's project grants studying: -fentanyl overdose prevention -earthquake disaster preparedness -renewable energy -kidney disease (and other healthcare topics) -disability aid product design

This is a statement by PSI CEO Mark Sykes, on the importance of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility for science, and reflects the values and principles that guide the daily management of this Institute under his leadership. Read it here:

New and only on Assigned Media: Wikipedia editor Pax Ahimsa Gethen writes about transphobic harassment, defacement, and attempts to turn Wikipedia into a source of anti-trans disinformation, and of the determination of trans editors to preserve the site as a vital source of unbiased, truthful info.

I wonder how many gigabytes of data NASA would delete from the PDS under the new admin if they realized a trans woman requested it

NASA (and LPI/USRA) is deleting public *community created* science documents from *non NASA* websites. These documents are often created using a combination of tax-payer funding and the volunteered time of scientists/engineers. (Mostly the latter)

Q for air travelers: has anyone been hassled by TSA over X gender markers since the EOs went out?

Here are 70 clones of #asteroid 2024 YR4 that do hit Earth, highlighting the impact risk corridor. There are some big cities along that line: #Bogota, #Lagos, #Mumbai.

#asteroid 2024 YR4 and 200 clones pass through the Earth-Moon system on Dec 22, 2032. Three of these clones hit Earth. Another hits the Moon.

If you run a small .EDU, putting your head in the sand and pretending that you can't stand up your employees bc you're afraid to be noticed will not protect you. The fascists don't care. You're a target bc you do research and science. Selling. Your. People. Out. Will. Not. Save. You.

So, these are just my vaguely formed impression from SIUC getting blown up by austerity starting in 2010, but... I am not sure people in surrounding communities necessarily care about universities as a regional economic center.

The Family Research Council has been explicitly saying it's coming after trans people for TEN YEARS. The documents don't lie. So don't fucking tell me this moment of violent & terrifying transphobia is about trans visibility, or "women's sports" or bathrooms or "protecting children." BULLSHIT.

this is the "merit" two-step. first, you strongly imply or state outright that the presence of anyone who isn't a straight, able-bodied white man is unfair "DEI," then you argue that just because an institution is all-male and lily-white doesn't mean there is discrimination. that's just merit!

Unsurprised this is how an English tabloid would react to the universe changing its gender

While it is valuable to remind people what the President can and can't do from a legal standpoint, I would also beg them to consider what those actions will mean when the enforcement mechanisms don't work.

As a trans woman on government funding, the least I can say is that I'm pretty sure the executive branch has already made the decision to fire me, because that's its goal for all trans people.
