“But if a #farm family voted for Trump, believing that his policies were good, it seems strange that they would then demand that they, and only they, should be spared the full consequences of those policies. #Tariffs are the dish that rural America ordered for everyone. Now the dish has arrived…

He’s not a businessman. He’s a mobster.

Bessent telling the EU to stand down over obscene tariffs is comical. This is the guy that let Elmo into Treasury behind the firewall to hack into payment systems, leave malware crumbs behind and infiltrate the entire western banking system. He f**ked everyone over by that breach and EU knows it.

Russia gets no Trump tariffs. Intriguing. In fairness to Russia, its only exports are death, misery, chaos, war crimes, and despair…and we’re fully supplied by the Trump Administration for those.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

This was….five months ago

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

Proud to stand with more than 40 law professors from New Jersey law schools in an op-ed explaining why President Trump's interim appointment for U.S. Attorney is unqualified for the position. www.law.com/njlawjournal...

"WASHINGTON—Mark Zuckerberg is lobbying President Trump and White House officials to agree to a settlement that would prevent Meta Platforms from facing an antitrust trial later this month, according to people familiar with the matter." — @WSJ.com scoops

I can’t compete with this

Mack Schroeder, the HHS employee he taunted on that video, apparently held the "woke job" of ... budget analyst.

Jeffries: "This is not 'Liberation Day in America,' it's recession day."

Despite dubbing himself the “Father of IVF,” Donald Trump actually WILL NOT be funding federal infertility research. Trump has fired an entire infertility research team at the CDC.

“Dhillon has also directly attacked the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the landmark law that prohibits racial discrimination in voting — which she will now be in charge of enforcing, if confirmed.”

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A “TRADE DEFICIT”—IT’S JUST CALLED “BUYING THINGS.” YOU DO NOT HAVE A TRADE DEFICIT WITH YOUR DENTIST JUST BECAUSE HE NEVER BUYS ANYTHING FROM YOU.

Maybe everyone can see it now, but the world's richest people have tanked it all to restock assets and get liquid after years of illegally playing with funny money. They used "the wokeness" as a cudgel and it worked. The next Disney princess WILL be white, as we all eat beans under the highway.

Don’t look at me, I voted for the black lady who didn’t want to burn down our economy.

Don’t worry Japan. Our mob president is just waiting to receive a bribe from you. That’s what his new Crypto bus is about. Fuck you MAGA.

It’s an entire administration of morons.

I was thinking that none of those numbers made sense, but holy fuck this is insane

This happened to a dear friend of mine in Nashville recently, and I’m only bringing it up now bc I keep running up against a persistent belief among a certain echelon of white women who’re convinced they’re gonna somehow be exempt from this

Senate Pencils in $5 Trillion for Tax Relief, Leaves Blank Spaces for Spending Cuts. Here let me fill those spending cuts in for you. Medicaid SNAP Medicare Social Security. That is the only path to 5 trillion and they know it.

Trump announced tariffs on the Heard and McDonald Islands, which are literally uninhabited. Population: zero.

#GVerse #MustWatch: Rep Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) @repjasmine.bsky.social has AG Pam Bondi’s number and she saves a little for Elmo too. Crockett always brings the 💥🔥💥in committee. Check this out!👇

In a way, inventing numbers to pretend other countries are charging us imaginary tariffs is of a piece with the tried-and-tested MAGA strategy: Pick someone you want to hurt, and make up some way they are attacking you to rationalize the harm you inflict on them.

I don't expect any of our major media outlets to acknowledge this outright, but this is the thing: These aren't 'steep' tariffs, these are _insane_ tariffs. These are 'nobody in the White House understands decimal points' numbers. It speaks to total economic illiteracy _throughout the White House_.

There's no question that today's tariff announcement will give the United States the highest tariff rates of any industrialized country. And it's not even close.

Yep. He was the best Doc Holliday.

Happy Market Bloodbath! It’s going GREAT, Donnie.

I am feeling quite liberated from ever retiring or purchasing new or good things.

Why? He was installed to destroy the US.

The president is an unhinged criminal. His tariffs address is a rambling embarrassment in front of the whole world. Get into the streets April 5 for protests to declare we won’t accept this destruction of our country.

The biggest baby on the planet.

“The amount of knowledge that is being purged today at CDC is just tragic.” www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

"We can't do what we've been doing for 50 years." Yes, a half-century of prosperity, victory in the Cold War, and massive military supremacy needs to be unspooled pronto

NEW: We obtained a letter from Democratic senators led by Warren and Coons that was sent today to the Trump administration denouncing its response to the Myanmar quake. The senators cited our @nytimes.com story from Sunday revealing the shortcomings. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/02/u...

All of these are criminal. They all are built to avoid federal record statutes. Why are they structuring all their conversations to avoid getting caught committing crimes?

When it was Hillary or Biden, Trump’s DOJ demanded prosecutions. Now with Signalgate, they say “nothing to see here.” Pam Bondi and Trump’s top law enforcement officials are showing us exactly how deep the hypocrisy runs—and how cowardly they are.

A former congressman was nominated for inspector general at the Department of Labor, where he would independently investigate ethical lapses. But just six months ago, this same congressman lost his re-election amid…wait for it…alleged ethical lapses.

The national security adviser doesn’t understand national security. Fire Michael Waltz.

Murphy: "Newsflash: These guys are incompetent. They don't know what they're doing. We hired a weekend Fox News host with no diplomatic or management experience with a checkered personal history of abuse and alcoholism to be our chief national security official. And it's going very badly."

Attempts to curb judicial oversight—especially when it challenges executive overreach—are classic signs of rising authoritarianism. Strong courts protect democracy. #ProtectDemocracy www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Why did Trump take Karina Yurevna Rotenberg off the U.S. sanctions list? She is a known friend and money launderer for Vladimir Putin.

Important point here: they are not firing public officials to save money - personnel costs are relatively minor - they want to kneecap capacity so that these agencies struggle to spend money. Its a back door impoundment.

milbank has been representing cathy harris in her suit over her firing from the mspb. will they continue doing so? www.reuters.com/legal/govern...
